About me and my therapy practice

Counselling and Psychotherapy provide a unique opportunity for you to focus and reflect on your life narrative and find more fulfilling and satisfying ways of living. Making the first positive steps towards change takes a great deal of courage and you have made that step by seeking support.

Life problems are often complex, and multi-layered, making it very difficult to attempt to work through them alone. What can happen is that all the different layers can become entangled, and one of the ways counselling/psychotherapy may help, is to work through issues step-by-step.

I work with you to disentangle the various layers of the problem and help you to decide where to start. I'm here alongside you to work through the struggles you are facing and offer you a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.

Together we collaboratively outline your goals, then through a reflective re-evaluation help provide a greater clarity through identifying your inner understanding, experiences and strengths, and allowing you to move forward with hope and trust in your inner resilience.

Qualifications - I qualified with first class honours in Integrative Psychotherapy from the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ accredited training at the University of East London and I continue to invest in lifelong learning and growth.

I have 13 years extensive experience of working in mental health with adults and children across the public, charitable and private sector. I have also worked as a lecturer and supervisor on the BSc (hons) Counselling programme at the University of East London.

I also hold a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling, a Certificate in Clinical Supervision and a Level 4 Certificate in Counselling Children from Place2Be.

Experience supporting change-makers - Alongside my work in private practice and education, I support people and organisations with encouraging conversation, awareness and education surrounding equality diversity and inclusion.

Practice description

I practice collaboratively, pluralistically and holistically, meaning I draw upon a range of therapy models (e.g. person-centred, existential, somatic, cognitive-behavioural therapy and psychodynamic) tailored specifically to the individual.

I offer a personalised flexible approach to helping you (pluralistic), that is based on the belief that my clients are experts on their own truth and lives (even if they don’t feel like it).

I believe that we all have the resources within ourselves to deal with problems; one of my roles as your therapist is to act as a navigator, and by remaining fluid to individual needs, mirroring and reflecting what I see and hear, I can help clients gain clarity so they are then able to make the best use of their inner understanding, experiences, and resources.

My aim is to respond to your individual needs with empathy and flexibility. Human uniqueness means that what might be helpful to one person may not be so helpful to another, and what may be helpful at the start of therapy may no longer be helpful at the end.

Some people find expressing their feelings (anger, fear, sadness) most helpful in therapy, whereas others might find using therapy to rationally ‘talk through’ their problems more beneficial. It is my job to remain aligned with your needs.

You are not alone. The world is constantly moving, and nothing stays the same forever. Things can and will get better.

We all have an innate ability to adapt, accept and thrive.

I want to thank you for visiting my profile and for showing interest in the service I provide. I hope you will decide to take the next step by making contact to ask any questions you may have.

I look forward to hearing from you.

My first session

Our first full, 50-minute session will be a chance for you to tell me about yourself and your hopes for therapy, to get to know me and ask questions. This will help you decide if we are a good match and from there, we can agree to work together in an open-ended way or within an agreed timeframe.

If you would like to ask me anything and/or get to know me before booking an initial session, I offer a free, 15-minute consultation over the phone or via Zoom.

Testimonials:

"For the first time in my life I feel truly heard in the safe space that Lily has created and continues to facilitate."

Written after therapy with Lily for 2 months for anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, and self esteem

"Starting therapy for the first time was very daunting but Lily made the start so easy and made me feel comfortable from the first session. She is very empathetic and knowledgeable and seems to understand my issues instinctively. The activities and resources she recommends are spot on and I always look forward to our weekly sessions. I can highly recommend Lily to anyone, especially those who are reluctant/ nervous about therapy."

Written after therapy with Lily for 1 month for stress, anxiety, self esteem, and coping with life changes

"Lily is an exceptional therapist and an active listener and after having sessions for two months, I'm already learning how to feel more grounded as she has helped me with a diverse set of issues and trauma. She also provides a variety of worksheets to help me during the week and helps me understand issues from another perspective. I feel really positive being able to share comfortably with a therapist and also knowing what I can work on next after our sessions. In the meantime, I look forward to our upcoming sessions. Thank you! :)"
