About me and my therapy practice
I offer individual psychodynamic psychotherapy from my garden room in Chalfont St Giles.
I currently practice within the NHS as well as privately. I have experience working with eating disorders, abuse, bereavement, trauma, depression, anxiety, self-harm, addiction, issues surrounding identity, gender and sexuality and relationship problems.
You may be troubled by a specific issue or symptom, a past trauma or struggling with a current event; therapy can provide a space and time which is purely yours to examine your thoughts and feelings.
Practice description
With its roots in psychoanalysis, the psychodynamic method promotes ‘free association’, speaking openly about whatever comes to mind in order for us to examine unconscious connections between past and present experiences. I believe it offers a more in depth and holistic treatment, a more thorough examination of the self and underlying causes, rather than some short-term therapies which often focus on coping strategies.
My first session
I recommend two assessment sessions before you commit to therapy.
Prior to meeting I will ask that you complete a form giving a brief outline of your history and what you hope to achieve. The assessments will build on this and give you a sense of what therapy would be like with me.
