About me and my therapy practice
Are you looking for support with your relationship?
In couples therapy we move away from focus on the individual and into the dynamic of the relationship – how you jointly live in it, with it and for it.
Your relationship is constantly developing and changing and sits at the heart of your lives so thinking about it and giving yourselves the opportunity to better understand it and seek out what will mutually satisfy, can be a profound impactful process in your togetherness.
Your relationship and how you live it will also impact and influence those close to you, family, friends, colleagues, and others so that your relationship with each other becomes part of a matrix of relationships with others.
Ultimately, we will travel towards a better understanding of each of you, through understanding how you co-exist inside your relationship as a unit.
There is only ever one true expert on your life, and that is you! But sometimes you need someone alongside you to help navigate through difficult emotions, thoughts, behaviours, and how you cope with these. I can provide you with an understanding and supportive space, allowing you to explore these emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, at your pace and, most importantly, led by you.
My modality (the technique or school I have studied in the most depth and that I am trained to use) is Person-Centred therapy and at the heart of my practice is the importance of the therapeutic relationship – between me and you.
Practice description
Whilst I, like anyone, will inevitably be a product of my own life experiences, my over-arching belief in person-centred therapy simply places you in the centre and recognises that you are the expert on you. In this sense, my role is to walk alongside you through your therapeutic journey, helping you navigate your way through difficult emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, at your pace and led by you.
At the heart of my practice is the importance of the therapeutic relationship – the trust between us is paramount and must come from both sides. If we are to walk together on a journey that can sometimes be challenging or uncomfortable, we must share a mutual trust and respect. This is reflected in all aspects of my work, from my approach to the therapy room through to the terms under which I practice. Once we have mutual trust and respect, we have the solid foundation for your therapeutic journey and the best chance of achieving the goal of contentment in your life.
