About me and my therapy practice
My approach to therapy is integrative and trauma-informed, allowing flexibility to adapt to your unique needs and preferences. Being integrative means I draw from various counselling models, adjusting my approach to what resonates best with you. Whether you find healing in being deeply listened to, exploring creatively, or understanding the brain’s role in shaping emotions and behaviours, we can work together to find what feels right.
A trauma-informed approach acknowledges trauma’s profound impact on self-perception, relationships, and how you experience the world. Trauma can stem from one event or ongoing experiences, including emotional neglect or a lack of boundaries. I aim to help you regain safety and connection, supporting you to understand that trauma responses are survival mechanisms rather than flaws. Together, we’ll work to restore peace, enthusiasm, and a sense of control over your life.
As a Somatic Experiencing® (SE) advanced trainee, I use body-centred techniques to address the nervous system's response to trauma, prioritising safety and minimising the need to relive painful memories. SE focuses on releasing physical tension stored from traumatic experiences, fostering balance and ease. This method promotes healing without requiring a complete narrative of past events, making it suitable even if recalling certain memories is difficult.
Above all, my goal is to create a safe, empowering space that respects your pace and supports you on your path to lasting change and resilience.
Practice description
My approach to counselling is warm and empathic, offering a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement. In our relaxed conversations, I’ll be by your side, sometimes using meaningful metaphors to deepen understanding and help you navigate this journey.
Together, we’ll look at identifying any unmet needs, behaviours, and thought patterns that may be holding you back. We may explore your past to better understand the present, delve into relationships to improve them, or develop techniques to manage anxiety, stress, and negative self-talk.
I may offer new perspectives or explore how your beliefs, values, and responses stem from human instinct in a bid to survive and stay safe, helping you find ways to live a happier, more fulfilling life. You’ll be encouraged to express all your feelings, even those that feel uncomfortable. This process will be at your pace, ensuring you feel safe and supported.
I don’t claim to have all the answers—you know yourself best. Instead, I’ll help you find the answers that feel right for you, making changes that align with your life. When it’s time to end therapy, we’ll gradually transition, allowing you to feel confident moving forward, knowing you can handle life’s challenges.

My first session
I would recommend taking advantage of my free 15 minute telephone conversation prior to booking a full session. It gives you the opportunity to ask me any questions you have and can help you decide if you want to work with me. It can also help me to know if I have the right skills to help you.
Our first session together will be a time to go through an assessment. I can get a better idea of what you have come to therapy for; if you have specific goals or whether you just need space to explore and work things out for yourself.
It will also provide me with the opportunity to get some information from you in regards to what is going on in your life right now, who and what is important to you, what is positive or not, how things have been for you in the past, whether you have had therapy before and if it has been helpful or not.
It is also an opportunity for us to decide if we think we are right for each other, whether we both feel I can help you. If at this point I feel that a different type of therapy or therapist would be more beneficial for you to work with, I will let you know.
We can talk about your expectations of therapy and the responsibilities of both of us during the process. It is a good time to raise any concerns you have and express your thoughts and feelings on how you hope to be supported by me.
