About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Kristina Hill, a qualified therapist with a professional background in Psychology, Education, and Social Care. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (MÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ) and a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I also hold a registered membership with ACTO for online therapy, and I am fully insured and ICO registered.

I offer short-term and long-term counselling for children, young people, and adults. My approach is integrative, creative, and trauma-informed, focusing on helping clients explore and address areas of their lives that may be causing concern. Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship difficulties, I provide a safe and compassionate space to work through these challenges.

Overview of How I Work

I believe that many of our current difficulties stem from patterns and beliefs formed in childhood. Adverse experiences, such as abuse or neglect, can significantly impact how we view ourselves and our relationships with others. My work involves creating a safe and supportive connection where clients can explore these patterns and begin to heal.

In therapy, I use a range of interventions tailored to each individual’s needs, including:

Creative techniques such as art and play therapy for children and young people.

Mindfulness and somatic approaches to connect with the body and regulate emotions.

Trauma-informed tools and resources to build resilience and foster healing.

Psychoeducation and emotional literacy to empower clients with greater self-awareness and understanding of their behaviors.

Sessions are experiential, offering opportunities to restore and rebuild the sense of self that may have been lost or damaged through negative life experiences or dysfunctional relationships.

Practice description

I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for adults, children, young people, and couples to explore challenges and work towards positive change. My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, combining therapeutic techniques to meet the unique needs of each client. Whether you’re seeking therapy to address anxiety, depression, or trauma, or you’re looking to strengthen your relationships, I provide tailored support to help you achieve your goals.

For adults, I specialise in working with issues such as anxiety, depression, work-related stress, sleep problems, relationship difficulties, and the effects of trauma. This includes supporting individuals who have experienced abuse, neglect, or other adverse life events. I help clients explore underlying patterns and beliefs that may have formed in childhood, empowering them to rebuild their sense of self and create meaningful change.

For couples, I provide a neutral and supportive space to work through relationship challenges, including communication issues, conflict, infidelity, or changes in life circumstances. My goal is to help you better understand each other, improve communication, and build a stronger, healthier relationship. Sessions are tailored to each couple’s unique dynamic and focus on fostering mutual respect and deeper connection.

For children and young people, I create a creative and engaging environment where they can express their feelings and explore challenges such as anxiety, low mood, peer pressure, bullying, gender identity, and school-related stress. Using creative tools like art, play, and storytelling, I help young clients navigate their emotions in a way that feels safe and manageable. Regular consultations with parents or carers are included to ensure a joined-up approach.

I also integrate psychoeducation and emotional literacy into sessions, empowering clients with knowledge and tools to better understand and manage their emotions, behaviors, and relationships.

My first session

The first session is a standalone appointment and a vital part of the therapeutic process. It is designed as an in-depth assessment to ensure we are the right fit to work together and to establish a strong foundation for therapy.

During this session:

For individuals, we will explore your current challenges, goals, and any relevant background, such as patterns of behavior or past experiences, to tailor therapy to your unique needs.

For couples, the focus will be on understanding your relationship dynamics, the specific issues you’re facing, and your goals for therapy. This is an opportunity for each partner to express their concerns and hopes in a supportive and balanced environment.

For children and young people, the session often involves a consultation with parents or carers to gather essential background information and ensure a clear understanding of the child’s needs.

The assessment is a collaborative process, allowing you to ask questions, share any concerns, and experience my therapeutic approach. This is an important step in determining whether my style of therapy is the right fit for you.

If therapy feels like the right path, we will outline a personalised plan tailored to your needs and goals. If I believe another professional would be better suited to support you, I will guide you in finding the appropriate help.

This initial session is essential for building trust and clarity, ensuring that you feel confident and supported as we move forward in your therapeutic journey.
