I am an experienced accredited psychotherapist/counsellor, registered with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ, IAHIP and IACP. I adhere to their codes of ethics and practice.
I am currently able to offer daytime weekday appointments on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
About me and my therapy practice
I have a wealth of experience gained over the past 25 years as a counsellor and psychotherapist, trainer and supervisor, maintaining a private practice throughout.
My approach is Humanistic and integrative, and I work using elements of Person-centred, Gestalt therapy, Body work and Inner Child work as appropriate. It is important that we find a way that feels right and supportive for you.
I believe in a whole person approach, which takes the interactions between the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of ourselves into consideration. We learn more about our emotional landscape by listening to the body. The mind and body are not separate. The body knows and holds our truth.
I aim to provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and supportive environment built on trust and respect. It is often easier to talk about life issues with someone who is completely impartial and will maintain confidentiality. A safe, confidential therapy space in which to talk and be listened to can be the first step to a deeper, more compassionate understanding of yourself. Every journey starts with a single step.
Talking with someone and being heard can be hugely beneficial. When we have the support that we require we can heal and grow. Giving yourself some time to be heard is one of the most kind and bravest things you can do for yourself. The key to therapy is the relationship; together we can build one of trust and respect.
Therapy is primarily a dialogue in which I am a companion journeying alongside you to increase your awareness and uncover new possibilities and ways of being. My aim is to help you make sense of the past, live in the present and have hope for the future in ways that are meaningful for you, providing you with new choices.
Counselling is not about me giving you the solutions; I aim to use my experience and training for you to find these for yourself. You are your own expert therefore I'm here to help you empower yourself.
Practice description
Opportunities for growth and transformation:
In this therapy space you can expect to be accepted as you are, with empathy and without judgement, and for me to be open and genuine with you. Together, we can discover the gift that is you, helping you to heal your past, to find balance and to live your truth.
I offer both long-term or short-term therapy, depending on your needs, on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Sessions last 50-minutes and will be arranged for a time that suits you, usually on the same day and time but I am also flexible in this regard.
When you decide it is time to stop the sessions, we will aim to end in a way that feels supportive and appropriate for you.
