About me and my therapy practice

We are all unique in our experiences and as a result we all think, feel and behave differently. As part of my role as a counsellor I will always work to understand your unique perspective and how you see the world. I will listen actively and deeply and I will provide a safe space for us to work together, at your pace, to explore any issues you might be facing in your life.

I appreciate that trying to find the right counsellor for you might feel like a daunting prospect. I believe that building a trusting, professional counselling relationship is key to you getting the most out of your counselling and so it is really important that this feels like the right fit. I very much encourage open dialogue about this and believe you should be in the driving seat when it comes to your counselling. For this reason, I have an integrative approach to my counselling work but I maintain a 'person centred core'. In practice this means I draw on various different counselling theories as appropriate to each individual but in a non-directive way (you always have a choice).

I have experience in working with a wide variety of presenting issues including (but not limited to) stress, anxiety, confidence issues, relationship difficulties to name a few, with particular areas of experience and interest including working with grief and loss, LGBTQ+ related matters and working with neurodiversity (both diagnosed and suspected).

Practice description

I offer individual counselling to adults on a long term or short term basis (with regular reviews). I can provide in person sessions (conducted in a COVID-safe manner) or remote sessions over Zoom.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile; if you think I might be the right counsellor for you then please feel free to get in touch and we can arrange a free 15 minute telephone call to get to know each other a little to see if we feel we can work together.

My first session

The first session will feel just a little different as we will complete an initial assessment to help me to understand better what brings you to counselling, what you want to get from the process and to provide me with background information that may be relevant to your counselling process.

We will also run through our counselling contract to ensure you are clear on how sessions will run and to give you an opportunity to clarify anything you are unsure of or ask any questions you may have.
