About me and my therapy practice
I was drawn to become a therapist after my own experience having reached a cross roads in my life and felt overwhelmed and struggled to make decisions. I found a therapist that was willing to listen and go at my pace until I reached a place where I could move forward. I found the experience invaluable and wanted to help other people through difficult and challenging times.
I am a counsellor who uses a person-centred approach that is confidential and non-judgemental so that we can work collaboratively to help you reach your goals or explore what has brought you to seek help.
Over the years I developed and began to introduce a Pluralistic approach that is also valuable because it opens up other ways of working together. It helps to build a trusting relationship between us as we explore the challenges that you are facing. As we develop a better understanding my role as your counsellor is to offer a method works for you by listening to your thoughts and feelings and how this can lead to the choices you have made and the choices you want to make in the future. Through this shared journey we move forward discovering what is meaningful for you.
Practice description
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read about me and the services I can offer as your therapist. I have been a Counsellor for over fifteen years working mainly in the third sector specialising in addictive behaviour. I have more recently developed my skills as a supervisor for four years to help other counsellors.
Working in this particular area of addiction counselling, I have found that at the route of this there is emotional pain, trauma and complex trauma. This has resulted in additional anxiety and depression that may have been triggered by childhood abuse, bereavement, loss or other issues that may not always be obvious, but you sense that something needs to change. Many of the clients I have worked with may not have used substances to cope but were affected by living with or around addictive behaviour. This could trigger anxious feelings and the world feels unsafe and the need to be in control is overwhelming.
As a counsellor I would like to offer a safe space for you to work though your thoughts and feelings. This may only be a few sessions, however it may take longer depending on how you feel. We usually begin by setting boundaries that work for us both and this is the start of our relationship and these boundaries will be reviewed as we progress to check in where we are.
My first session
You can google my website before you contact me on therapy2theresa.com. Then if you wish we can organise a complimentary first 20-minute consultation on the phone or zoom to assess what you would like from counselling and to see if we are compatible before we commit to booking a session.

About me and my therapy practice
I work using a person-centred approach that is confidential and nonjudgemental so that we can work collaboratively to help you reach your goals or explore what has brought you to seek help. Over the years I have found that a Pluralistic approach is valuable because it builds on our relationship and understanding as we process and move forward.
I work under the laws and ethical guidelines of the United Kingdom only. I am now able to offer you a hybrid approach that ranges from online or telephone counselling and supervision face to face in a safe and supportive environment. You will be encouraged to explore and discover solutions to the issues you bring while we work together to help you reach a better understanding and how to move forward and reach your goals.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read about me and the services I can offer as your therapist and supervisor. I have been a Counsellor for over fifteen years working mainly in the third sector specialising in addictive behaviour and I have been a supervisor for five years. I have found in my practice there is emotional pain, trauma and complex trauma, that has resulted in additional anxiety and depression. This may have been triggered by bereavement, loss or other issues that are not always obvious, albeit there is a sense that something needs to change.
The foundation of my work is a person-centred approach that is confidential and non-judgemental. Over the years I have developed a Pluralistic approach that offers a method of working with clients creating an equal space where they feel valued. It helps us builds and develop a depth of understanding as we process their thoughts, reflect on their feelings that gives them options to make informed choices and when ready obtain their goals.
As a supervisor I have found working in the third sector helped develop my skills and knowledge especially during covid, because it escalated hybrid ways of working, which I now bring to my private practice.
My first session
For the first session I can offer 20 mins free discussion to see if you would like to engage with me as your supervisor.
If you are a student we could have a reduced rate for a limited period of time £35.00 for one hour.
If you would like to proceed there is a Pluralistic assessment questionnaire that is optional. This is a simple tool to help us check in what you expect from me as your supervisor.
