About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified psychodynamic therapist with a Post-graduate Diploma in Human Relations and Counselling from Human Development Scotland (2020). I also hold a Post-graduate Certificate in Counselling Studies from The University of Edinburgh (2013) focussed on an integrative approach between psychodynamic and person-centred modalities and the Certificate in Couples Work with Physis Scotland (2024).
My practice is influenced by a life-long interest in Jungian and Existential therapies, and by my considerable experience in energy therapy, all of which allow me to create a nurturing environment where clients can express themselves fully and begin to thrive. Additionally, my own multicultural background and varied professional history in educational and supportive roles has prepared me to engage with clients on a wide range of issues without judgment or preconceptions.
As a registered member of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ, I abide by its Code of Ethics and Code of Practice, undertaking regular supervision and being committed to continuous professional development through training sessions, workshops and conferences. Current areas of interest include Couple Therapy, therapeutic body work/ movement and a whole-self approach to ADHD.
Practice description
Couple Therapy
In this instance, the word Couple will mean any two people in a close relationship irrespective of its nature.
Difficulties in close relationships can feel especially challenging. They often trigger our deepest anxieties, which force us into unhelpful emotions and behaviours that may compromise what would otherwise be a healthy and fulfilling relationship.
The goal in Couple Therapy is to increase the couple's awareness of their relational dynamics, as well as provide them with tools and strategies to better navigate the inevitable challenges of close relationships.
To that effect, Couple Therapy is time-limited and will usually consist of one 60-minute assessment session, followed by eight 90-minute therapy sessions, or one 60-minute assessment session followed by twelve 60-minute therapy sessions.
Please note that, apart from the very initial contact, all correspondence should include both people in the couple and all sessions, including the assessment session, are payable.
At the end of the assessment session, we will decide whether we can work together and schedule the first therapy session. Each therapy session will take place every 2 weeks.
In-person sessions take place at Dialogue & Space on Albion Road and Hudson House on Albany Street, Edinburgh.
Online sessions are held via Zoom and MS Teams, which allows me to support clients irrespective of their location in the UK.
My first session
In Couple Therapy the first session is the 60-minute assessment session. This is an informal structured assessment to determine whether couple and therapist can develop a productive therapeutic relationship and work together.
At the end of this session, if we wish to work together we will schedule the first therapy session. From the second session onwards, each therapy session will take place every 2 weeks.
No formal assessment will be completed in the assessment session. Instead, notes will be written as part of the intake which usually takes place the following session.

About me and my therapy practice
Life can present us with challenges that can feel painful and insurmountable. To assist clients in overcoming these ‘issues with life’, I provide a relational, nurturing environment where they are listened to and empowered to follow their own path.

Practice description
I offer both brief and long term individual therapy, usually in weekly 50-minute sessions in-person or online.
In-person sessions take place at Dialogue & Space on Albion Road and Hudson House on Albany Street, both in Edinburgh.
Online sessions are held mainly via Zoom and MS Teams, which allows me to support clients irrespective of their location in the UK.
Sessions can be held in English and/or Portuguese. I also have a firm grasp of French, Italian and Spanish, which has helped clients explore their issues in their own native languages.
My first session
The process of finding the right therapist can feel rather daunting, even for clients who have been in therapy in the past. Prior to a first session I offer a 20-minute free-of-charge consultation via Zoom or MS Teams, so that we can have an initial conversation and schedule our first session.
In our first session, you would be invited to approach the issues that motivated you to seek a therapist. This initial exploration would allow us to get a sense of how our work would be like and decide whether we can work together. If so, we can then agree on the main focus of the work and its duration, usually from a minimum of 6 sessions to long-term or open-ended.
