About me and my therapy practice
We also know that this is far from the truth.
Taking the step to attend counselling is often the first step on a journey that allows us to confront our difficulties, face our fears, become more self-aware and ultimately take a path that can lead to a better life.
My name is Michael. Attending counselling, studying counselling and then becoming a counsellor is the best life decision I have ever made.
I am a fully qualified MÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Professional Therapeutic Counsellor specialising in Person Centered Therapy.
Person Centered Therapy is a talking therapy in which you are the focus. Obviously other people are discussed in our sessions but ultimately the sessions are about you, your feelings and emotions and the difficulties that you are facing.
Our sessions will give you the opportunity to be open and vulnerable in a safe space without being judged as we work through your issues together and ultimately work towards improving your quality of life and resolving these issues.
As a counsellor I have dealt with issues relating to depression, loss, grief, anxiety, men's issues, divorce, infidelity, narcissistic behaviour, anger, sexuality, gender transitioning, body dysmorphia, self-harm, eating disorders, alcohol issues, drug issues, bullying, debt, peer group/friendship issues, workplace issues, relationship issues, family issues, confidence and stress.
*Please read my practice description below for a more in depth description of how I work.
Practice description
In my practice I work as a person centered therapist - meaning that the focus of the sessions is on you, your feelings and your emotions.
The aim of our sessions will ultimately be for them to provide you with an opportunity to improve the quality of your life and work through your issues as they arise naturally in our sessions.
I believe that counselling is a very personal and confidential form of support and as your counsellor I offer you time to share your concerns, looking at alternative ways of coping. With support from myself, I will enable you to decide the most appropriate way for you to resolve your difficulties. I will listen to you without judging you or imposing my values and beliefs upon you. For me to give advice or to make decisions for you would be wrong. I can only help and encourage you to decide what is best for you.
Counselling can help you learn more about yourself and make sense of your thoughts, feelings and motivations, giving you a clearer perspective on life. It can also help you to explore your options and make decisions so that you are able to make positive changes. Counselling can help you resolve your issues and live a happier, more productive life.
