I believe that counselling is a very personal and confidential form of support and as your counsellor I offer you time to share your concerns, looking at alternative ways of coping. With support from myself, I will enable you to decide the most appropriate way for you to resolve your difficulties. I will listen to you without judging you or imposing my values and beliefs upon you. For me to give advice or to make decisions for you would be wrong. I can only help and encourage you to decide what is best for you.

My first session
The first 20-25 minutes of our initial session is a relaxed "getting to know you" time where we will talk about what you would like to work on and discuss in our sessions, what you hope to gain from therapy and how we can work together to achieve this. We will then, at a pace you are comfortable with, begin our work together.
In your first session you will also have the opportunity to tell me a little bit about yourself, your day-to-day life, your hobbies, interests, lifestyle, family dynamics and friendships. This will enable me to gain a clearer picture and a greater understanding of you as a person. Everything you tell me is confidential.
Further to this we will agree on a counselling contract in order for us to work together in an ethical manner and carry out a short assessment in order for me to further understand how you are feeling and any factors that may be influencing this.
