About me and my therapy practice
I practice person-centred therapy. It is a non-directive approach which means that I support you in discovering your own path, free from instruction or authority of another. Through openness and providing a warm welcome, I aim to provide an environment in which you can come to feel safe, so you can share what is troubling you, free from fear of judgement or control.
The idea is that the relationship provides the right environment for the therapeutic work to take place. That through feeling understood by an independent other, you can travel the path to better understanding of yourself and your feelings.
You would remain in control of what is shared and discussed. Whatever you choose to share, I can help you with exploring and understanding your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour, so you can better understand why you feel the way you do. I can help you explore other ways of approaching your difficult situation, to reveal a new way of coping that eases your burden. This would be emotional work that we would do together.
Practice description
I practice person-centred therapy with individuals face-to-face, online, and over the telephone from a dedicated therapy room in my home. The location is Carlton (NG4), 4 miles northeast of Nottingham city centre.
On street parking is available. The location is well served by public transport, with frequent bus services from Nottingham city centre.
There are outside steps up to the property and the therapy room is up one flight of stairs. Unfortunately the location is not accessible for wheelchair users.
The room I work from is well ventilated between clients, with the touch points hygienically wiped between each use. The seats are positioned socially distanced apart. I provide antibacterial hand gel on arrival. I am fully Covid vaccinated. If you are vulnerable due to health considerations or concerned about working face-to-face, please contact me to discuss working remotely.
My first session
I offer a free initial 30 minute telephone consultation, with no obligation to continue. This is for you to share your reasons for seeking therapy, to see whether you feel comfortable working with me and whether I feel able to support your goals for therapy. Thereafter, I charge £45 for each session lasting one hour, which can be in-person, online (via Zoom) or over the telephone. Longer sessions of 90 minutes cost £65, when available. Sessions are usually scheduled weekly, and can be booked as we go, for as long or as little as you wish.
