About me and my therapy practice
I am passionate about supporting you to finally feel good enough and to heal the root causes which drive low self-esteem, perfectionism and anxiety which is holding you back.
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I have 12 years experience working in a variety roles in mental health and addiction services.
I specialise in supporting individuals who:
- Have a loud critical inner voice that holds them back
- Feel lost and anxious about the future as life looks good on the outside but doesn't feel it on the inside.
- Are high achievers yet never feel good enough no matter how successful they are.
- Struggle to identify their needs, have meaningful connection and set boundaries with others
- Experience insecurities and anxieties in friendships or romantic relationships.
- Are grieving the end of a relationship or going through a difficult life transition.
- Are in burnout and wish to improve their work/life balance.
- Fear failure and experience perfectionism which hold themselves back in work or relationships.
- Are seeking closure following a relationship break up
- Want to break generational cycles and prevent passing trauma down to their children.
Many of my clients:
- Are adult children of alcoholic, depressed, borderline or narcissistic parents.
- Have a late diagnosis of ADHD and struggle with neurotypical expectations to fit in and live up to their potential.
- Had critical, demanding or absent parents during childhood.
- Are considering, or are estranged from their family of origin.
I work in two ways, by supporting you to work through your here and now struggles whilst also building a safe relationship to address and heal the root causes of where they come from.
I also offer online group therapy on the first Tuesday evening of each month. This is limited to 8 group members and costs £45 per month. This might be ideal for you should you wish to receive support from peers who get it and are unable to commit to the time and financial demands of individual therapy.
Practice description
I am a compassionate and straight talking therapist who will support you to better understand how early relationships and experiences from childhood have impacted who you are today. I can help you learn to love and accept yourself so you are less dependent on earning it from others through achievement or by being 'good'.
As a relational therapist, I believe that in developing a safe, consistent and secure relationship with me, this will support you to practice different ways of relating which in time, you can then take outside of the therapy room to experience healthier and more fulfilling relationships with others.
If it sounds like you would like to work with me, or would like to find out a bit more, I welcome you to email me and arrange a free 20 minute telephone call. You can also follow me on Instagram @the.good.enough.therapist or via Facebook @therapywithharriet
I aim to respond to enquiries within 24 hours - please keep an eye on your junk mail in case my reply ends up there.
My first session
I understand just how much courage it takes to reach out and ask for help. I offer a warm and confidential space to talk about what is troubling you. During this process, I may ask you about your past and what has led you here today. I see the first session as an opportunity for us just to get to know each other - for me to have a greater understanding of what it is you need, and to help you get a sense as to whether I am the right therapist for you.
