About me and my therapy practice

However you are feeling, whatever has happened to you and whoever you are, talking really does help to relieve confusion, discomfort or pain.

Psychotherapy is an opportunity for us to explore, through talking, how things are for you. In doing so, you get to know yourself better and understand more about the things that have happened to you and the choices you have made. I believe that it is this insight which allows us all to live happier and more fulfilling lives, in a way that fits better with who we really are.

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist. People often describe this type of therapy as ‘going deeper’. This might be because an important part of the work is bringing what is unconscious into consciousness, through exploring how past relationships and our emotional development affect our present lives, behaviours and perceptions.

The people I work with come from all walks of life and seek therapy for all sorts of reasons, including abuse, anger, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and many more reasons – or simply to understand themselves better and live happier lives. You might also be looking for support after a particular diagnosis such as Autism / ADHD, OCD or PTSD, or help to overcome difficulties related to bereavement, family issues, low self-esteem / self-confidence, or trauma, for example.

My aim is to provide an inclusive service. Please let me know if you have a disability or any requirements which would make working with me more accessible.

Contact me today to take the first step towards making a positive change in your life.

Practice description

My practice offers a place for you to be heard in a confidential and non-judgmental therapeutic environment.

I work from a dedicated private consulting room on the ground floor of my home in Lincoln (LN6). Each session lasts 50 minutes and takes place at the same time each week. Sessions are offered on an open-ended basis (meaning that we mutually agree when to end our work together).

I am registered with both the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ) and the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). I hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate and have Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance. I comply with the General Data Protection Regulation and am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

My first session

The first step is to get in touch by phone or email to arrange an initial meeting. This session is an opportunity for you to begin to consider whether you would like to work with me. I will ask you about your reasons for seeking counselling and take a brief personal history from you about your experiences and relationships so that together we can see whether psychotherapy or counselling is something that might be of benefit to you. I will also explain how I work and answer any questions. There is no need to make a decision to start regular sessions during this first meeting.

This initial meeting will usually last 1 hour 15 minutes and the cost is £60. If you decide that you would like to commence regular weekly sessions, these last 50 minutes and the cost is also £60. You may prefer to take a little more time before deciding, but I will hold the agreed time for you.
