About me and my therapy practice
Would you like to experience more ease and calm in your life? Would you like to access more of your life-force energy and creativity? Do you simply need someone to talk to?
Navigating life can sometimes feel like a challenging and lonely task. My priority is offering you a safe, confidential, non-judgemental place to pause, take a deep breath and begin to make some sense of what’s going on. Being listened to, and truly seen and heard by someone who cares is a powerful healing experience. From this place, you’ll feel empowered to discover your own inner resources.
My qualities as a counsellor include warmth and compassion, but also an ability to gently challenge you when appropriate. I am approachable and genuine, and strive to empower you to flourish in your life. I have a great deal of experience working with anxiety and other difficult emotional states. My work is informed by the important insights of neuroscience into trauma and its effects on the nervous system. I work with clients to find practical tools such as EFT, breath-work, felt sense, mindfulness, and inner child work. These techniques calm the nervous system which may have been running on high alert and causing all manner of symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, and a sense of being overwhelmed.
Practice description
What to expect in your first session
The first 50-minute no-obligation session is there for you to ask questions and for me to take your history. This allows you to get a sense of whether you feel you could work with me, and for us to decide whether we are the right fit.
How I work
If we agree to work together, it will be in the form of regular weekly 50-minute sessions, usually on the same day and time. We will first look at finding relief for your immediate issue and then decide if longer-term work would be beneficial in achieving a more lasting change.
My approach is warm but challenging. The fundamental premise is for you to feel safe and accepted, and to go at your own pace. No subject is off limits, and I offer my full presence to truly hear what may be troubling you.
I believe that only you can be the expert on you and my role is to help you to find insight into the underlying causes of your distress.
