About me and my therapy practice
"The growth that happens, comes from the relationship we create", and I truly believe this.
I believe that by forming a trusting, real, and honest therapeutic relationship, we will create a beautiful but challenging journey of exploration, self discovery, acceptance, compassion, change and growth.
I have worked with many people of all walks of life, from children to older adults, and I am always amazed at the resilience and courage of each and everyone of them for taking that first step into the counselling journey
WORKING WITH ADULTS
I offer a safe space for you to let go of the masks and labels you might wear to get through the days. I offer time that is yours and only yours to use as you feel necessary. Somewhere were you can talk, reflect, explore, connect or simply just be.
WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE
I have years of experience working as a counsellor in different educational settings, especially working with young people with SEN and in SEMH schools and Alternative Provisions.
Helping, supporting and understanding young people is so important so that they can feel heard, seen and valued for who they are and build that resilience, confidence and trust in themselves.
I have encountered many young people during my journey as a counsellor and have supported with a range of worries and difficulties from low-esteem, identity issues and exam stress to depressions, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal ideation.
WORKING IN THE ARTS
Having experienced the ART world first hand, I know how beautifully painful it can be at times. The "am I good enough?" questions , managing expectations, the discipline and time that's put into our ART, and the rejection that sometimes can feel never ending, are just some of the challenges that can be encountered along the way and can sometimes lead to the loss of passion.
I can help and support you in exploring and reframing how you see and experience yourself and your relationship to the ARTS and what it means when things don't go to plan.
Practice description
"This space and time is yours, and we will use it however you need". That is what I will offer you, a space that you can call your own, a space where you can talk, reflect, question, explore or simply just be.
I do this in a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can share and explore your feelings, worries, thoughts and behavioural patterns. I will aid you in finding the strength and resilience to better your day to day and your relationships, especially the relationship with yourself.
I do this by integrating various therapeutic approaches and together we can find what works for you and your journey. This can look like a here and now approach were we discuss what is going on for you in the present moment, we can delve into the past or we can do both. This process will always take the pace that you feel comfortable with ensuring your emotional safety and autonomy.
I believe that each person, no matter who you are, has the potential for change.
Our work can be time-limited, or open ended.
With time limited work we can agree on a set number of sessions at the beginning of our work together. We can review this half way through and we can always add extra sessions if need be.
With open-ended work we will review our work together every six sessions. We will keep an open communication about how the therapeutic process is going and will work together on an ending when the time is right.
My first session
I offer an initial 10min free phone call to discuss further what brings you to counselling and see if/how I can help. It's also a time where I explain a bit more how I work and an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
If after that you feel comfortable in the thought of working together, we would set up a time and day for our first session. This would normally be the same every week, but I am flexible in my approach.
