About me and my therapy practice

My name is Sharon.

I am an experienced Person-centred counsellor.

I'm described as a natural, caring person and very easy to talk to. I have the ability to connect with people very quickly, to put them at ease and relate to their emotions and feelings in a genuinely empathic way.

I have a wealth of experience working with a diverse range of issues, including working on Telephone support line, and am currently working as a Remote Counsellor for a global medical insurance company. Within this setting, I work with various presenting issues including grief, bereavement and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, low mood, feelings of sadness, low self esteem, shame and narcissistic traits, life transitions, relationship difficulties and health issues including cancer support.

I have a wealth of experience working with adopted adults and can also support those who have been touched by adoption issues.

I have my own private practise.

My personal experiences.

Having personally experienced trauma, anxiety and the manifestations of unexpected bereavement and loss, I feel that my personal experiences have equipped me with the deepest level of understanding of human emotions and the ability to help others to overcome adversity.

How my counselling may help you.

I think if we are totally open and honest, most people find life stressful, overwhelming and challenging at times. Our friends and family aren't always available or equipped with the skills to support us through such difficult times, and we can therefore feel isolated and scared. This is where the support of a counsellor maybe really helpful.

I am extremely passionate about self-growth and helping clients to increase their self-esteem and live fulfilled lives. Engaging in counselling is a truly positive and enjoyable experience , and generally people end up gaining so much from their therapy sessions.

Practice description

Where do we start?

Within our counselling sessions I will provide you with a safe, genuine, confidential, empathic and non-judgemental space where we can explore your thoughts and feelings.

At your pace, we will identify and unravel what is causing your struggles. Together we will explore your thoughts and feelings and I will help you to see the 'Wood for the trees'.  I will support you to overcome any barriers or overwhelming thoughts/feelings that maybe hindering you.

My first session

When you contact me I will arrange a mutually convenient time for us to chat. During this initial 20 minute session which is free of charge, we will explore what you are struggling with and what you want to achieve from counselling.

We will  talk through what our 'working agreement' would look like and if you feel you wish to continue,  we will arrange our first counselling session.

Going forwards,  we will explore things more deeply and address any issues in a positive way by helping to clarify and understand what you are going through.

We will explore options for problem-solving, develop coping strategies, and can help to increase self-awareness and self-esteem.

I am currently seeing clients remotely, via video call, telephone or face to face (when available).  I offer sessions on an open-ended or time-limited basis.
