About me and my therapy practice
Hello! I am an experienced Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Accredited Psychotherapist, EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, COSRT Registered Relationship Therapist, and Advanced Level Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist working with individual adults and couples in Turkish and English languages.
I completed my BA degree in Guidance and Psychological Counselling at Bogazici University and my MA degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialisation in Couples and Family Therapy at Istanbul Bilgi University.
My clinical interests are centred around trauma, depression, anxiety, loss/mourning, immigration as well as intimacy, relationship injuries, and family of origin issues. My current research interests include person of the therapist and gaining mastery of self to connect and work more effectively with clients.
Although I have been trained in various psychotherapy approaches (e.g., psychodynamic therapy, solution focused brief therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, person-centred therapy etc.), I draw on EMDR and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy in my clinical practice.
I am an accredited registered member of The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ), The British Emotionally Focused Therapy Centre (BEFT), International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT); College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT); also actively serving on EMDR Association of Turkey as a member of Trauma Recovery Group, Turkish Couple and Family Therapy Association (ÇATED) and the board of Turkish Emotionally Focused Individual, Couples, and Family Therapy Association (DOÇAT).
Practice description
My personal, clinical, and researcher background taught me the necessity of realizing our own wounded parts and reaching out to our clients from a place of compassion and understanding. We all have unique life experiences that bring us joy, happiness, or sadness, anger, and fear upon remembering them. In the therapeutic process, I witness each clients’ wounded parts and their courage to share them with me. Opening up one’s to another person and exploring all these wounded parts require a nurturing, compassionate, and of course safe environment. If you’d like to explore your inner wounds and improve your relationship with yourself and others, I would like to hear from you.
My first session
Before scheduling a therapy session, I offer a 15-min initial phone consultation to explain my therapy approach, session duration, treatment length, fee, cancellation policy, and confidentiality.
I email all clients an informed consent form. I currently hold most sessions online via Zoom platform. For online sessions, I promise to take reasonable steps to ensure your confidentiality, although you must find a private place.
The first few sessions are intake sessions where I ask you some questions to get to know you better. Then, we decide therapy goals and start working on them.
