About me and my therapy practice

I believe that you are the expert of your own life, journey and mind. Also, that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that may currently cause you distress. I like to help clients see that suffering does not need to be feared or seen as useless or a waste of time as it can be used for valuable learning and growth. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling, happier and healthier life takes courage. You should be very proud of yourself if you are making this step! I am here to support you in this process and hopefully you will feel less alone and unheard.

To help to get a better idea of who I am and how I work here is one of my favourite quotes since starting my journey to becoming a counsellor back in 2015.

“The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words."

~Rachel Naomi Remen

That's not to say that within a session with me I would ever make you feel alone with minimal responses. I have a great gage of when it is right to just listen, respond empathically, or for both us to sit in silence! This can often be the best way to build trust.

I recognize that alot of time in our lives we are disturbed by friends, relatives or partners or even other professional relationships. In the way that as humans alot of the time we listen to respond or compare and alot of the responses can be unhelpful advice. To be actively heard, understood from your own frame of reference and given focus to what's important to you is very valuable and therapeutic. With the potential to be incredibly life changing. I always aim to provide an environment which is safe, none judging and a place where you can be respected, therefore opening the doors of your mind to be able to heal yourself and feel empowered to improve the quality of your life.
