About me and my therapy practice

I believe much of the distress we experience is relational at the core and that hope and healing can begin to be found in a therapeutic relationship.  I find that many of my clients are individuals and couples seeking to improve the quality of communication and experience of their close relationships - self, partners, family, friends.

By receiving understanding in our therapeutic relationship, which leads to self-acceptance, the process of change and growth starts to develop within this safe and secure space and then branches out into other areas of life.

In addition to my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, I hold an Advanced Post Diploma Certificate for Person Centred Couples counselling work.

Practice description

My practice is inspired in part by the following authors and thoughts:

'It's the relationship that heals.' (Irvin Yalom)

'The relationship is the therapy.' (Michael Kahn)

'If human beings live, die and thrive in relationship, it is through the relationship that the greatest therapeutic change may take place.' (Mearns and Cooper)

'The curious paradox is that when I accept myself as I am, then I change.' (Carl R. Rogers)

'As a person-centred therapist I believe that the resources are in the client and are waiting to be discovered if only I can offer a relationship of unconditional affirmation characterized by deep and compassionate empathy.' (Brian Thorne)

My first session

Please indicate your preferred method for me to follow up your initial enquiry - email, text or a free brief phone call.

In our first session we will explore what has prompted you to seek counselling and what the focus of our work might be.  This will allow us to determine how we both feel about the possibility of working together and consider whether what I provide is suitable for your needs.

You will also have the opportunity to raise any questions or concerns you have about the process.

There is no obligation to book any further sessions after this first meeting.
