About me and my therapy practice

Building a therapeutic relationship is an enjoyable and essential aspect of therapy and one that I feel privileged to be a part of. It is fulfilling to be a part of someone's life, to support growth and experience change.

Talking therapies give us the opportunity to explore our experiences introspectively, as though we are an onlooker of our life events past and present. As your therapist I will encourage and support you to define and discover how those experiences impact on your decisions and behaviour.

Accessing support can be a difficult step to take, the prospect of being one's true self with another can be daunting. My years of experience of working closely with people's lives has developed a broad-mindedness that is open to all thought. You will have a safe space where you will be met with a non-judgemental attitude. The sharing of all your thoughts and feelings will be encouraged and respected.

Therapy can be a life altering experience and I look forward to being a part of that.

Practice description

As an Integrative Therapist I will work with you from a humanistic - relational perspective. This is informed by Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural theory, which considers the past as impactful on present thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

The specific type of approach will depend on your needs and goals in attending therapy.

About me and my therapy practice

The best environment for professional development is through safe and supportive exploration of your work with others. The more self-reflective a practitioner you are, the more confident and effective you will be.

I studied psychology and sociology for my bachelor’s degree and obtained a master’s in Integrative Psychotherapy from Roehampton University. I have worked professionally in mental health and social care for over 15 years. I have experience supervising trainees, groups and qualified professionals. From this, I can offer you a wealth of knowledge and experience about the human psyche and relational dynamics.

Practice description

The supervision I provide is based on an integration of several modalities. It is underpinned by Inskipp and Proctor’s supervision functions: Normative, Formative & Restorative. It ensures that the work you do remains ethical, that you are provided with the opportunity to learn and develop and that you are supported in the highly emotionally demanding work of supporting others.

Stoltenberg & McNeill’s IDM assesses the changing level of intervention and support you will need. I derive structure for each supervision session through Hawkins’ Seven-Eyed Model and Page & Wosket’s Cyclical Model, incorporating all aspects of your relationship with the client, the wider context and me.

I lean on the feminist model to inform of power in the hierarchical nature of supervision and dip into many of the therapeutically informed models of supervision in my interpretations and formulations.

I offer a free initial 15-minute consultation to enable us to make an informed decision about our suitability for working together.
