About me and my therapy practice
Over 20 years’ experience working in psychotherapy, healthcare, and education sectors specialising in stress reduction and training. How might a life where stress is understood, challenged and reduced feel? The good news is, change can occur when the right techniques are applied. I invite you to find stillness in a non-judgemental environment, as we explore through therapy and psychoeducation what is happening.
I am an integrative counsellor who draws on a range of clinical psychotherapeutic, creative and eco/nature-based techniques including humanistic, person centred, Gestalt, DBT and compassion based mindfulness. I work in clinic, on Zoom and outdoors with individuals, professionals, groups and counsellors/therapists in training.
I specialise in stress related issues including change management, identity and burnout (prevention and reduction). At the heart of my work are holistic values where we can look at what has happened, what is happening right now (emotionally, physically and psychologically) and new ways to move forward. Knowledge, self-acceptance and compassion, emotional regulation and calmer ways can be attained - wonderful when high alert living has been the norm for so long.
Therapeutic modalities can be combined to align with what you need. Modes include: Humanistic, person-centred, gestalt, cognitive psychoeducation, solution focused/brief therapy, acceptance/compassion, dialectic behavioural techniques, creativity and psycho-spiritual/transpersonal.
MSc Psychology, MA Education (Holistic), BA, Dip Integrative Counselling, PGCE, QTLS. Dip Holistic Therapies (Various), Dip Prof. Development (coach mentor). Mindfulness, SEND, CMI post grad certs. Post graduate specialist trainings regularly updated. I work one to one, with groups, in clinic, online, outdoors/eco and in community settings.
Practice description
We can arrange to meet in clinic (Stirchley/Bournville or Redditch), online Zoom or outdoors for walking/eco-therapy. Experienced one to one therapist, teacher and collaborator. I work with individuals in clinic and with healthcare providers, colleges, corporate, community and at wellbeing festival events. Experienced working with NHS, neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, creative arts and faith groups.
Eco green, walking and nature-based therapies can take place outdoors, and indoors within clinical, workshop and festival spaces. Somatic holistic therapies on application. I can provide email reports, recordings and educational worksheets.
My first session
We can initially speak online or through email/text, and then speak on the telephone to discuss requirements and suitability. The prospect of our first session together can for some feel a little overwhelming, or indeed a relief or exciting (hopefully our initial discussion provides some reassurance).
At your pace, we can discuss what you are hoping to get from our sessions, what I can provide, your preferred ways of working (modalities) and the working agreement (days, duration, cancellation policy, cost, confidentiality). If you are happy to proceed, we can then go straight into therapy.
Students and corporate clients: Together we can devise a plan that focusses on required expectations set by your organisation, for example the use of specific modalities, time frames, psychoeducation (and budget).
Therapy can involve talking, art and the use of resources (flash cards, sound, writing and craft materials, nature and symbolism) to understand thoughts, emotions, behaviours and potential. Mindfulness and stress reduction techniques (meditation, body scan, breathwork, sound and movement) can be a welcome supplement at the end of each session, finding new ways to feel in control, relaxed and better.
