About me and my therapy practice

Hello and thank you for viewing my profile. It can be very empowering finally having a place to be listened to unconditionally. This can be your first step to being able to live the life that you want to live.

We all need support at times and any one of us can end up in a place of crisis. It can be difficult thinking about starting counselling so I want to let you know that you can contact me if you have any questions. You are also welcome to contact me for a free 20 minute telephone consultation.

My core training is in person centered counselling but I draw on a range of different counselling models and techniques to offer you support that is unique to you.

I work with a number of mental health problems. Often this is anxiety or depression, grief, stress or relationship issues. Until recently, I managed a bereavement counselling service which specialised in complex grief and traumatic loss. Working with bereavement remains a particular passion for me.

I offer a safe and confidential space where you can be truly listened to without judgment. I hope to hear from you.

Practice description

In addition to my private practice I am a volunteer counsellor for a Plymouth agency which offers counselling to carers and to those affected by domestic abuse or sexual abuse. I have also worked with those experiencing complex grief and/or traumatic loss.

My first session

Our first session would normally follow on from a free 20 minute telephone consultation.

At the first session I will ask you for some basic details such as GP, address, telephone number etc. We will always discuss confidentiality at our first session and this is a really good time for you to ask any questions or voice any concerns. I want you to feel as comfortable as possible.

It is then over to you to bring whatever you wish to talk about and we will go from there. We will work at your pace and with whatever you are comfortable to discuss. My trauma informed approach places your wellbeing at the heart of my work.
