About me and my therapy practice

It isn’t always easy to ask for help and it is a brave thing to admit to ourselves that something needs to change. I imagine you are here because you want help with something in your life.

I will listen to your story, help you express feelings and thoughts and make sense of them; assist you in finding common themes and meanings behind the words, help you clarify and express what you truly want from your life. I will also aid you to recognise unhelpful patterns and obstacles that get in the way of what you want for yourself and release them, if needed, and ultimately change your circumstances. You will make the choices and make all that happen. My role is to support and guide you to your innate resilience, hope and capacity for change.

There are so many different situations and circumstances in life that cause us pain and suffering expressed in different forms : anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, loneliness, bereavement, lack of purpose and so on..  Counselling can help us lead a happier, fulfilling life. Ultimately, I believe we all have the answers we need within us and my goal is to assist you in finding your own.

Practice description

I believe the most important element for therapy to be successful is the relationship between client and therapist and the trust developed between them that allows the work to take place. My approach is, therefore, relational: I provide a therapeutic relationship which supports you to examine your experience and feelings, learn strategies for coping, enhance your agency and will, develop resilience and explore your options for change.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to see how we feel in each other’s company and whether we are a good ‘fit’ to work together. We will also explore your current circumstances, the reasons that have brought you to seek help and your expectations as well as answer any questions you might have.
