About me and my therapy practice

I offer evidence-based therapy and coaching, drawing on the latest research into what works.

I am ex-Chair of The Bowlby Centre, the leading organisation in the UK for attachment-based psychotherapy.

I am also the co-Director of The London Centre for Applied Psychology - providing evidence-based training for mental health professionals.

Whatever issues you are facing, my aim is for therapy to relieve your distress in the most effective way possible. I do that by drawing on approaches that are backed by years of research and trial data. Therapy is shown to change people鈥檚 lives for the better. It is usually a shrewd investment of time and money.

I have undertaken specific training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approved by The British Psychological Society. CBT is the form of therapy most often used in the NHS. I am a member of the lead organisation for CBT in the UK and Ireland.

I am also an ILM-accredited Executive Coach (Institute for Leadership and Management) and have 15 years of executive leadership experience as well as a decade of senior-level coaching practice.

I am a professional member of the British Association of Sports and Exercise Sciences and have studied sport and coaching psychology with the Open University.

I have a master鈥檚 degree from Warwick Business School and have also studied at the London Business School and Cranfield University.

Practice description

Getting the right help at the right time can change your life.

Therapy: Talking openly about yourself can be hard. I will try to make it as comfortable as possible. We鈥檒l start by getting an idea of what you鈥檙e finding difficult and I鈥檒l explain a bit about therapy and how it might help.

What type of help will work best for you depends on what sort of problem you need help with. No two people are the same and certain approaches suit some people and some problems better than others.

I draw from a range of approaches (from CBT to attachment theory to couple-counselling) to provide the right support to suit you. The type of therapy I practice draws on recent developments in neuroscience as well as decades of research in both attachment theory and CBT.

Good therapy focusses on what will relieve your distress in the most effective way possible.

If you鈥檙e serious about change, come and get the help you need.

CoachingPsychologically informed coaching helps you develop self-awareness and insight to work out what keeps you from what you want to achieve. It also helps you build the resilience and the emotional competencies you need to reach your goals.

While there is some cross-over with therapy, coaching is focussed more on attaining goals and achieving personal fulfilment than alleviating distress.

Coaching is also somewhere you can drop your 鈥榞ame face鈥. Being able to be honest and open about your challenges is often the first step to overcoming them.

Recent meta-analysis suggest coaching is a very effective method of achieving change.

My first session

At the first session we can discuss what has brought you to therapy or coaching and what you鈥檙e hoping to get out of it. I can also answer any questions you have.

I draw on various approaches that are backed by research. So we can find an approach which suits you and works best for the kinds of problems you are experiencing.

Therapy and coaching are shown to change people鈥檚 lives for the better. Although it is a shrewd investment of time and money, it is also expensive, so my aim is to find what will relieve your distress, or help you achieve your potential, in the most effective way possible.

Seeing a therapist or coach when you feel overwhelmed should be as normal as going to the doctor for a persistent cough or unexplained pain.

Please feel free to visit my website to find out more and to book a session direct.

Supervisor - London

London N10
Sessions from £135.00

Availability

I currently have a little availability for supervision, mostly during the weekday.

I charge 拢135 for 50 minute sessions but do have one lower-fee slot available at 拢85

About me and my therapy practice

I offer evidence-based supervision and one-off case consultation (online or in-person): for therapists, counsellors and coaches - working with individuals, couples and young adults over 18.

Practice description

Whether you come for a single-session about a difficult case, or for ongoing support, my aim is for supervision to extend your range of skills and choices - by looking at different models and techniques to help you help your clients. Supervision should be challenging, interesting, supportive, and above all, useful.

Getting the right supervision in place is critical to any effective therapy and coaching. It鈥檚 a non-negotiable requirement of every professional body, for good reason. Many practitioners and academics regard it as the single most important element of their practice. Most acknowledge that it鈥檚 often the hardest relationship to get right.

I am not attached to any particular school of therapy, coaching or supervision. Instead, I am interested in what works for you and your clients. Good supervision is about offering fresh perspectives, new ideas, alternative frameworks and second opinions.

Therapy, counselling and coaching can be hard, lonely and complex. Supervision helps you cope with the challenges of a difficult job. Supervision or case consultation is the place to acknowledge and deal with that. In good supervision you drop the professional mask. Together we are realistic, honest and practical about your work and your limits.

I want supervision to have a positive impact on you and your work and I aim for it to be supportive and enjoyable, but above all, useful to you and your clients.

If you think I might be able to help with a one-off case consultation or on-going supervision, feel free to reach out or read more here:
