About me and my therapy practice
People seek psychotherapy and counselling for many reasons. You may be coming with a very clear sense of what is troubling you, or you may be experiencing a more generalised feeling that life has lost its meaning. I work with adults of all ages, cultural backgrounds and sexualities who are facing a broad range of challenges.
For me, therapy is not about categorising people using labels or diagnoses. Instead, it allows the opportunity to stay with, and make sense of the unique experience of a person’s suffering. I offer a confidential and non-judgemental space where, should we work together, we could reflect on and explore your situation: how things are for you now and have been in the past, what is important to you, and how things might be going forwards. Although psychotherapy and counselling can not provide you with a ‘quick fix’ or a ‘cure’, it is my belief that by gaining a clearer understanding of your situation and sense of what you want in your life, new choices and possibilities often emerge and the practical steps to realise these changes can be embarked upon.
I believe that a therapeutic relationship built on trust, care and honesty provides the foundation to my practice.
If you would like to know more about me and the psychotherapy and counselling that I offer, please visit my website (www.ruthdaytherapy.co.uk).
My first session
Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place on a weekly basis, generally at the same time each week.
An initial consultation offers us the opportunity to meet with one another to explore the possibility of working together. We can discuss what has brought you to therapy, as well as the hopes and expectations you may have.
If you have further questions or would like to arrange an initial session, please do not hesitate to contact me.
