About me and my therapy practice
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ
I am a fully qualified therapist and creative counsellor working with adults and young people.
I work with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship issues and have counselled young people during my training as a therapist with The Exchange at Gower College.
During the pandemic, I focused particularly on bereavement and loss therapy in my private practice and volunteering with the bereavement charity Cruse.
My approach is to work with the emotion behind people's stories and to help navigate and transmute whatever issue is causing stress, anxiety or trauma. Every client is unique with their own particular story and set of circumstances and my aim is to bring clarity, compassion and a way through for my clients.
Mindfulness, breath and guided journeys/meditations is another key area I work with.
I wrote my MA on "My Experience of Imagination and Connection - A phenomenological journey through Neo-Shamanic embodiment practices exploring how drum journeying techniques can be employed in psychotherapy as a tool for deep self-exploration". If clients are drawn to more in-depth work I offer drum journeys and other shamanic healing techniques to enhance the work.
Practice description
Coming to therapy can seem like a big step, but in my experience with clients, it is the beginning of a liberating time when past and present issues can be expressed and understood with emotions examined and transmuted.
Learning how to accept and navigate difficult life situations or past traumas can really beneficial, as you discover what choices are available to you in how to handle difficult emotions and thought patterns. Many of our core beliefs were formed when we were really young and not fully conscious of the choices we were making about the world. Therapy gives you the chance to look at yourself and your situation in new ways.
Acceptance of self as we really are is one of the most powerful and fundamental approaches to healing. Beyond the conditioned and constant chatter of our mind likes a Truer experience of ourselves.
It is this authenticity that I will be exploring with you in order for you to realise and experience yourself fully in order to create the life choices and conditions right for you.
My first session
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ
I offer prospective clients the opportunity to meet/speak with me first on a free 15 minute online zoom session or on a telephone call before committing to a first session. I like to offer this as the client/therapist relationship is paramount to the success of any therapy. I appreciate that people might like to see how we interact and to also get a feel for how I work or ask questions before deciding if I am the right therapist for them.
If a first session is agreed upon then I send you a short contract prior to our first session which can be face-to-face at my home office in Mumbles or online via Zoom.
