About me and my therapy practice
Counselling can be helpful at various times in our lives. Talking about it with another can make a difference. An independent relationship that is confidential and safe.
You may be dealing with major life changes or beginning to recognise that you feel mentally or emotionally troubled, it may also be hard to pinpoint what is actually happening.
Perhaps you are struggling with parts of yourself that feel uncomfortable, or you are a little dissatisfied with life generally.
Maybe you can see recurring patterns within your close relationships and you need some help to make sense of these patterns and find a way of changing unhelpful behaviours.
I can offer a space where you will be listened to with empathy and without judgement. My role is to assist you in finding the answers to whatever troubles you.
Many people come to therapy to explore life changes or issues, but many also come for personal development. Awareness that we are not fulfilling our potential can be stressful too.
Practice description
I am a person centred Integrative therapist. This puts you, the client, at the centre of the work, acknowledging that the answers to your questions are within you. My role is to empower you to find your own way though. We may look at the past in order to make sense of the present; we may talk about the way you talk to yourself or how you see yourself in various relationships. You may find the answers to your questions by exploring your life, thoughts, feelings and behaviours in multiple ways.
My first session
I can offer a free initial telephone session which will be an opportunity for us to speak and discuss what you need from therapy. The relationship is fundamental to our work together so it is important for us to experience each other before we commit to therapy.
From my perspective this chat will confirm that I am the best person for the work. I am aware of my own limits to competencies and proficiencies and this will aim to confirm that I can meet your needs.
From your perspective it's important that you feel safe and can trust your therapist.
This session, should we decide to work together, may also involve administration tasks . This will include an agreement between us, which will confirm professional and legal points and caveats to confidentiality.
