About me and my therapy practice
Coming to counselling can be huge step. Talking about your feelings might be difficult at first and counselling can be challenging. One thing coming to counselling isn’t is a sign of weakness. No one is immune to difficulties or distress. The best part of my job is seeing people transform in the process.
We can spend much of our time talking and hearing but are we ever able to talk openly and do people really listen? With dozens of thoughts whirling around in your head and no outlet for them, it is easy to become overwhelmed, anxious or low. Ignoring them might mean they go away for a while but eventually this can lead to unhelpful thought patterns and behaviour.
My counselling practice is Humanistic Integrative. I believe that we are all unique and that the ability to grow and change is inside us all. Often life events, other peoples’ opinions or expectations mean that we lose sight of our real selves, our values and desires. I will draw on a range of therapies to meet your individual needs. This might include working creatively with simple art activities or everyday objects that can be used to express difficult thoughts and feelings. Nature and the outdoors are important to my practice and I offer Walking Therapy alongside face to face, online and telephone appointments.
Practice description
Enabling you to be and feel yourself lies at the heart of my counselling practice. In this sense I see counselling as a restorative and empowering process.
As a counsellor, my focus is on you and your individual needs and concerns. First and foremost I seek to build a warm, trusting and respectful relationship. I understand how important it is to feel safe and to be able to talk openly and confidentially without fear of judgement.

My first session
I charge £40 for a 50 session. Once we have decided to work together, we will decided on an initial number of sessions. We might work in a short time limited way or therapy might be open ended. Most people find it useful to meet on a weekly basis and then might reduce the frequency of sessions as their situation begins to improve. The most important thing is to work at a pace that suits you and we will review progress and your goals at regular intervals.
