About me and my therapy practice

I'm Siobhan, a counsellor who strongly believes in providing a safe, warm, non-judgemental space for you, the client to talk. Life can often take us by surprise and change can be difficult. This can affect our behaviour even if we may not be aware of the reasons why. I am here to enable you to try and make sense of this and any issues you feel you need to talk about.

I have a Diploma in counselling and am a registered member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) I have experience in seeing clients with a wide variety of presenting issues, including, abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, shame and suicidal ideation. My background is in addiction, trauma and general counselling. I have worked at The Nelson Trust, Carers Gloucestershire and Listening Post. I have worked at ARA, Addiction Recovery Agency, counselling individuals who have problems with gambling or are affected by someone who does. I also teach and am currently teaching counselling students at Gloucestershire college, which I love.

Practice description

I trained as a integral counsellor, (Psychodynamic and Person-Centered theory) who works relationally, but belive in the importance of tailoring my approach to the needs of my client. I have experience working with Gestalt or in a trauma informed way. During our time together we can explore your past and how that can and has affected your present, doing this in an accepting, safe, non-judgemental environment so that you as the client can feel in control. This can enable you to understand yourself more fully, leading to greater self-awareness and an increased level of self-acceptance.

I understand the courage it takes to make that first step but I am here to listen. I am flexible in my approach and can offer long term, open ended and brief intervention counselling depending on what you need.

My first session

Our first session together will be to see if we are able to work together, talk about the counselling agreement and I will complete an assessment. This will enable me to understand a little about you and give us a chance to talk about your expectations of the counselling.
