About me and my therapy practice
I'm an accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor and an EMDR Therapist working with adults who are looking for a safe and confidential space to think and feel, and explore your experiences and difficulties together. This could be issues around anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, bereavement, abuse, relationships, identity or low self-esteem - nothing is too big or too small.
Therapy Is A Time For You. Perhaps you’re struggling with difficult feelings, stuck in old patterns of behaviour, dealing with life-changing events, or battling with negative emotions and behaviours... therapy is a space for you to think, to feel and to explore. At the core is the relationship between you and your therapist; helping you to make sense of it and support you in finding a possible way forward.
Why Me? I'm an experienced psychotherapist and my ethos is promoting an honest and reliable relationship in which you can talk freely, share your thoughts, difficulties, experiences at the pace you wish. I will listen in a warm and thoughtful way, without judgement, and we'll work together to help you process the difficulties you're facing and gain an understanding.
One size doesn't fit all, so I'll support you on your own personal journey, providing you with the opportunity to be listened to, to feel understood and be thought about.
Practice description
I am an Accredited Member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ and I work to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ’s standards of Good Practice and abide by their Code of Ethics.
My approach is mainly psychodynamic which means that I will work with you to help you make links between your present difficulties and past experiences, however I also draw on other modalities ensuring we work together in way that feels right for you. Alongside this, I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy which is an effective psychotherapy method helping to treat difficulties arising from Trauma (such as assault, sexual/physical/emotional abuse, complicated grief, child neglect, accidents) and PTSD. EMDR is also increasingly used to treat a wide range or symptoms and disorders such as anxiety, depression, phobias, self-esteem and performance issues.
Together we'll make sense of your feelings and challenges, help you achieve insight, and in turn facilitate positive change, self-awareness and a capacity to cope with present and future difficulties.
My work is based on integrity and compassion and I will work with whatever you choose to bring to your therapy sessions. Nothing is too big or too small, all your feelings matter.
I offer face-to-face and video sessions.
My first session
Whether you’re certain you’d like to start therapy or still left wondering about it or indeed if I’m the right therapist for you, why not get in touch for an initial consultation to find out.
The initial consultation is free of charge and a chance for you to tell me a bit about you and why you’re seeking therapy at this time. It's also a chance for you to find out about how we would work together and ask me any questions you may have. The initial consultation is via Zoom or telephone.
Following our initial consultation, if you decide you'd like to work together, then we will agree a suitable time and day each week. Sessions take place face-to-face at my premises in St Albans, or I also offer sessions remotely via Zoom.
