About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Alyson. Alongside my private practice, I work in the charity sector with women who have experienced trauma and domestic and sexual abuse. I have a good knowledge of ADHD and Autism and extensive experience of working with unpaid carers, including those caring for a neurodivergent partner or child. I have worked with boarding school survivors and have a specific understanding of the long-term effects of this early attachment rupture. All my work is trauma-informed.
I am a humanistic counsellor, trained in person-centred therapy. This means I listen without judgement and will work with you to acknowledge, identify and make sense of how you are feeling.
People come for counselling when they feel stuck and overwhelmed. Together, we can work to find a way through your difficulties and distress so that you are able to think clearly and feel more connected and in control. Counselling is a reflective process that can lead to a stronger sense of self, healing and change.
Prior to my therapeutic training, I worked as an English language teacher abroad and with families seeking asylum in the UK. I explored cross-cultural counselling as my diploma research topic and qualified as a therapist in 2020.
I am a white British woman of mixed European heritage and use the pronouns she/her. I work in accordance with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ's ethical framework and receive monthly clinical supervision, and I regularly access peer support and ongoing professional training.
