About me and my therapy practice
Hello,
I'm Mic and I am a Creative Arts, Sandstory and Play Therapist.
I have worked with children for over 20 years. Throughout my work, my focus has always been to empower and support young people: giving them time and space to reflect on their own stories.
I offer a holistic approach: creating a safe space for your child to heal and flourish emotionally; building up their self-esteem to thrive in their environment both socially and academically.
Practice description
My approach is child-led using a variety of creative media, including art, clay, sand, music, movement, games, puppetry and therapeutic storytelling. This engaging style of work gives a child the time and confidential space they require to learn about themselves, their individual needs and how they can successfully interact within their community.
I offer in person, face to face sessions from my Harrow-based practice as well as providing online sessions for children aged 3-16. Where appropriate, I also offer home visits for children and young people. To fully support my clients and their families, I also offer parent coaching as part of my service to ensure that positive and achievable strategies are available for the whole family.
For more information about me and my work, please check out my website or feel free to contact me.
My first session
Before the first session, we will have a one to one consultation either over the phone or via Zoom, so that you as the parent or carer can share your concerns and perspective. I will ask questions that allow me to gain a greater understating of the situation and whether I might be able to support your child. This conversation is also an opportunity for you to get to know me better and ask any questions you may have about how I work. If at the end of this conversation, we agree to move forward, then we would organise an introductory session for your child.
The introductory session is an opportunity for your child to share their thoughts and feelings with me about what is going on for them, and to get to know me. We also use this session to discuss what confidentiality is and how sessions might look if we were to work together. At the end of this time, your child decides if they would like to come and work with me. I will then organise a fixed session time and day for an agreed block of sessions and begin the work.
Each session lasts up to 45 minutes.
