About me and my therapy practice
I whole-heartedly believe that counselling can help everybody, and to have the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of ourselves can be a life changing process.
We know ourselves better than anybody else ever could, but we often can lose touch with ourselves and the external noise can become so loud that we can no longer hear our own inner voice.
Counselling can give you that space to be truly heard and to be able to hear yourself too.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I use a blend of different therapeutic approaches. This way of working allows me to draw upon the models and theories that I feel will resonate most with your needs, meaning our work together will be as unique as you are.
My main approach is Person-Centred, which is based upon the belief that give the right conditions, a person can reach their full potential and become their true self. These conditions are created through nurturing our therapeutic relationship.
I also believe that healing is about the whole person, and in this, we need to look at all parts of our self…
the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual.
So, in addition to using western psychological approaches, I weave in practices and philosophies from other energetic and spiritual practices such as breathwork, reiki, meditation and mindfulness.
My clients have described me as kind, friendly & understanding.
Practice description
I am currently offering sessions both in person, in a cosy space in Newbury town centre on Thursday daytimes and evenings.
I also offer sessions online using Zoom, or by phone if preferred. This means you can have your counselling sessions from the comfort of your own home and can connect with me wherever you are in the country.
I offer both short and long-term counselling depending on your needs, which we can discuss during our first session together.
Sessions are offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
My first session
Our initial session will be used to discuss what you would like to gain from counselling, so that I know how I am best able to help and support you. This will involve me asking you some questions about yourself and your current situation so that I can get to know you a little better.
This first session will also give you the opportunity to meet me to ensure you would be comfortable in talking to me and to ask any questions you might have about counselling. There is no obligation to continue with sessions if you feel I am not the right counsellor for you and I will do my best in supporting you to find the right help should we not continue our work together.
If we do agree to work together, we will agree a regular time and date to meet moving forward. We will also regularly review our progress to make sure you're happy with how the sessions are going and to ensure you feel you are on the right path.
