About me and my therapy practice

It can be difficult to find the courage to reach out and ask for help.

You may be a couple who are facing relationship difficulties and need a third party to help you work through your concerns.  You might be an individual coming to counselling because you are in crisis, unable to see a way through a situation or feeling lost or alone. You might be seeking the 'right' answer around difficult life decisions when it feels that making a decision seems impossible. It may have taken many years to find the courage to seek help for issues which run deep, perhaps stemming from difficult, early experiences in childhood or from trauma. Perhaps you are looking for very specific tools and techniques to manage and cope with anxieties or stresses, or wanting to address specific problems like anger, or self-sabotage.

Counselling is a type of talking therapy which offers confidential support in a warm and non-judgemental way. Whatever is causing you to reach out at this time, I offer an accepting, empowering and encouraging environment as I assist you to find ways to move forward.

I am a fully qualified counsellor, with a BA (Hons) Degree and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.  In addition I have trained and worked with Relate, offering relationship counselling.

I am a Registered Member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ), meaning that I adhere to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. This guides my counselling work, ensuring that I operate safely and ethically. I am fully insured and qualified to work with adult clients.

I have several years' experience within the helping professions including time with a domestic abuse charity, supporting adult survivors of physical, sexual, financial and emotional abuse. I have experience within a substance misuse counselling agency, assisting those struggling with addictions.

Practice description

I work from a discreet counselling room on the very edge of Epping, close to Harlow, Ongar, Waltham Abbey, Loughton, North Weald, Buckhurst Hill and surround.

I offer both short and long term counselling.  I have worked with some individuals for many months and other individuals and couples for just a few weeks.

My approach is Integrative, meaning that I can integrate a number of methods and techniques to offer the right support for each individual. I am able to work with both the 'here and now' but also more deeply, looking at unconscious processes and how the past may shape the present.

Relationship Counselling, sometimes known as couples counselling or marriage guidance, can help people work through the difficulties and problems that affect many relationships. People usually come to counselling when they feel their relationship is in some sort of trouble or crisis. Emotions might range from anger, resentment and bitterness to shame, sadness or humiliation. Some people seek support in the early stages of their relationship and others after many years. It is not uncommon for individuals to come alone at first or to have a partner who is reluctant to attend. I encourage an initial meeting where we can identify what might be happening and work out how to broach the idea of attendance with the other partner.

I can support with the following; anxiety, depression, stress, bullying, domestic abuse, self-esteem, loneliness, sexual abuse, relationship issues, addictions, co-dependency, anger, loss, bereavement, sexuality, identity issues, body image, workplace difficulties, major life changes like redundancy or divorce, disabilities, self-harm and personal development.

Sessions are £60 for individuals and £80 for couples.

My first session

We'll have a first conversation by telephone and if we feel we would like to explore working together we can arrange to meet.

The first session enables us to talk about what brings you to counselling and what you might want to achieve or get out of your sessions. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about the way I work and together we can work out if you would like to commit to further sessions.
