About me and my therapy practice

About me and my Therapy Practice

Are you feeling lost and alone after a relationship breakdown or a bereavement? Do you feel anxious and depressed and worry that your life is falling apart? Or maybe you or someone close to you is facing an illness or disability that affects you in ways that other people just don’t understand? What you are going through may make you feel lonely and isolated, sad or just emotionally numb. It may seem like you are losing sight of your own identity - that is the person whom you thought you were. It is natural to feel like this when something big or traumatising happens. Friends and family are just getting on with their lives as usual, but your life is ‘standing still’ because it has changed forever and everything is different now…

I help adults with bereavement (including child bereavement) relationship breakdown, illness, disability and other types of loss, to cope with trauma in their lives. I help individuals to manage anxiety, depression, grief, anger, guilt and shame, and to find new ways to cope with the traumatic things they are going through. You may worry that you will never be able to ‘move on’ from what has happened and that you will never feel like ‘you’ again. Many people fear this after a major event. I can help you to process your thoughts and emotions. I can help you to talk about how you are really feeling today, even if you have never told anybody else. Together, we can work through your worries and concerns and start to re-build your resilience and confidence for the future.

Practice description

How counselling can help you

Have you ever thought, I wish I could just tell someone how I really feel? Someone who will really listen and understand and who will just ‘get me?’ Therapy can help you to process trauma and difficult situations and to develop coping skills to manage panic and anxiety. Society tells you to move on, but this may feel impossible if you are grieving for someone you love, or a special person is no longer in your life due to a relationship breakdown. Illness and disability also have a big impact and the daily challenges you face affect your self-esteem and self-confidence. Counselling can help you to process your fears, uncertainties and worries. Counselling can help you to accept things that cannot be changed and to build your strength and resilience for the future. Counselling is your very own space where you can talk about your grief, anger, sadness, guilt and shame.

Sessions are face to face, online or by phone. Contact me today to book a session or to arrange a free, 10 minute chat.

Training, qualifications and experience

My journey into counselling began in 2015 when I became a National Helpline Volunteer with the NSPCC Childline.

Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills - Highgate Counselling Centre, London.  2017

Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Person-Centred) City Lit. Institute, London. 2020

Private Practice and voluntary work 2020 to present day:

In 2023 I gained my Counselling Accreditation (Ongoing commitment to high standards and ethical practice).

In 2024 I also began working in partnership with a charity supporting parents whose children have cancer or who have passed away with cancer. I give counselling to adults who are feeling isolated and alone as they cope with the trauma of their child’s illness or death.

Today, I combine my private practice with my work with the NSPCC Childline. I have recently achieved my ‘Gold’ award in recognition of the number of voluntary hours I have given to the Helpline service.

My first session

What happens during my first session?

You might be feeling nervous about starting counselling. You might be feeling anxious about talking or worry that you don’t know where to begin. Many people feel like this and I completely understand, because there is never a right way to ‘do’ therapy. Your first session is simply an introduction where you find out how therapy might help you. You can talk about the things that you would like to work on or change, to feel more in control and more confident. We can chat about the past, present or future. Whatever experience or trauma you have gone through, you do not have to face life alone.
