About me and my therapy practice

I appreciate that life can be difficult sometimes. Maybe you are anxious or depressed, or maybe a life event is causing you distress. Together, we can work in a transparent and collaboratively way to address your issues and work towards your goals. I am friendly and easy to talk to and I will make a dynamic assessment, which I will share with you, and I will explain what we are working towards and how we can get there. From 2012 to 2018, I studied a UKCP accredited course in Integrative Psychotherapy, Level 7, where I learned person-centred, psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, systemic, sensorimotor, and relational therapies and how this is evidenced in neuroscience. I will tailor my psychotherapeutic approach to your individual needs.

Practice description

I began counselling in 1993, following the completion of an honours degree in Psychology, as a drug and alcohol counsellor for a charity. Later, I became a Psychologist for the NHS and I worked in the specialisms of closed head injuries and forensic mental health services. Thereafter, I worked with people with learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders. In 2018, following the completion of a level 7 post-graduate diploma, I started private practice. I work with adult individuals in short and long term work. I also specialise in working with neurodiversity. Other specialities include anxiety, identity, bereavement, alcohol and substance use, childhood trauma and loss.

My first session

During the first session, we will check your personal information and the psychotherapy agreement, which I will have sent you prior to the session. This will be stored in line with GDPR regulations. This is your opportunity to tell me about yourself and what you want from therapy. I will ask you some questions about you and your life experiences. We will explore your needs and we may establish goals of therapy. I will explain how and why we may work together and about confidentiality in sessions.
