I work on Tuesday and Thursday in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. I work solely via online counselling, so I am able to work with individuals from all over the United Kingdom. I am able occasionally to do sessions outside of these time periods for special circumstances, but primarily will keep sessions to these times.
About me and my therapy practice
As a counsellor, I collaboratively facilitate growth and change in the persons with whom I work. I specialise in working with persons who have experienced traumas of all kinds, whether or not they meet criteria for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I have extensive experience and training on helping individuals heal from sexual abuse, and academic specialisation in Institutional Betrayal following traumatic events. I also care deeply about working with individuals who have experienced violence, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and religious trauma. I also enjoy working with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, as well as spiritual identity development or transitions.
I believe deeply in the resilience and healing capacity of each person. Sometimes the path forward is incredibly confusing and overwhelming; I want to offer you tools and a road-map to empower you to unlock your capacity to flourish. It is my goal to hold the hope for you to heal, even when you cannot.
In counselling, I offer you a safe holding space while you discover new ways of being in relation to the world. I am passionate about creating therapeutic relationships built on trust, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. When you feel truly seen, significant healing and growth can occur.
I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counselling from a program in the United States which held the highest level of accreditation possible for such a degree. In addition, I undertook an additional course to receive certification in trauma counselling. I have undergone Continuing Education training to be able to administer EMDR to clients in my therapy practice. I am now pursuing a PhD at the University of St Andrews in Social Psychology, where I am studying how trauma survivors and religious communities interact and how this intersection impacts post-traumatic outcomes.
Practice description
I specialise in the treatment of trauma, with a specific focus on traumas that occur within the contexts of relationships, such as sexual assault, abuse, neglect, and violence. I have a great deal of experience working with individuals who have experienced childhood abuse, sexual assault, and Institutional Betrayal. I have specialisation in working with Dissociative Disorders (including Dissociative Identity Disorder or DID), Religious Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, and Relationship Issues. I also very much enjoy working with individuals who are interested in personal development and are looking for ways of understanding themselves in deeper ways in order to support growth and flourishing in every domain of their lives.
I utilise various evidence-based therapeutic modalities based on your clinical presentation and goals in order to make therapy work best for you. I primarily draw from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Generally, I take a relational and somatic approach to healing, which means that I pay close attention to your emotions, body, and relational context as a means of creating lasting change to your thoughts.
My first session
I can offer you a free 15-minute consultation in order to meet, for you to hear a little about me, and for me to hear a little about you and what you're looking for. If we both decide that we'd like to move ahead, the next step would be to schedule a 90-minute intake session, wherein I will take a complete psycho-social history in order to better inform the therapy process. Sometimes I use tests or inventories in order to give both of us a better idea of what exactly your symptoms are and what diagnoses you might meet criteria for. Based on this, and informed by your goals and current symptoms, I will create a treatment plan that I think would best meet your hopes for treatment.

Therapy differs in length from person to person depending on prior experiences, goals, acuity of symptoms, and clinical recommendations. How long therapy goes for, how often we meet, and what modality is right for you will be an ongoing conversation between you and me, and you will always get to decide whether or not it is a good fit for you. The best predictor of successful outcomes in therapy, over and above any particular treatment modality, is the degree of fit between therapist and client. Because of this, it is incredibly important to me to make sure that you feel as though you're in the right place and doing the work that is important to you; if not, I will very happily help you find the person or treatment that would be.
