About me and my therapy practice

How are you doing?

You may be looking through this directory because you feel unhappy. You may be struggling with past traumas or current difficulties. You may want to talk to someone about how you feel or find space to consider change, but therapy may seem daunting if you’ve never tried it before. I believe the therapeutic relationship between us is key to building trust . From this place of trust, difficult feelings can be explored and change can be considered in a safe environment.

Who am I...?

Although I am a general practitioner, my specialities are anxiety, workplace conflict, family dynamics and narcissistic abuse.  As a warm, empathic, non-judgmental therapist, it’s my mission to support you through your stress, anxiety and depression, so that you can move on to live a happier, more fulfilled life.  It’s my hope that by working with me you will be able to heal from previous experiences, feel more confident in yourself, gain courage to deal with life’s challenges and form happier relationships.

How I work...

I believe you have a unique tendency to strive in the way that's best for you.  As such, I understand that most answers to your problems lie within yourself... and it's my job to help you find them.  Sometimes events in life can stop you from striving in the best way for yourself.  Sometimes other people - no matter how well meaning - can feel a barrier to your recovery.  But by carefully listening and supporting you, I believe you can find your own path - and your own voice - so that you can go on to live without your previous worries, make better choices for yourself, and live a happier, more fulfilled life.

Practice description

Face-to-Face counselling...

My therapy room is a safe and private space located in the heart of Nottingham. It is a comfortable and private place for you to have therapy.

Located in Nottingham City Centre, very close to the Old Market Square and the Lace Market, it’s easily accessible by public transport including the tram. Alternatively, there is a nearby car park and cycling racks can be found a few streets away .

How does telephone and online counselling work...?

In essence online and telephone (remote) sessions offer you the same experience as face-to-face therapy. However, there are a few practical considerations to consider and we can discuss these together before your first session.

I use Zoom for online counselling. As it offers end-to-end encryption this is a safe platform which prevents unauthorised access. Zoom is free for you to use and if you are unfamiliar with this system, I will be happy to talk you through it. I also have a help sheet which I will send to you before your first session.

I am able to work with anyone over the age of 18 who resides in the UK.

My first session

What happens during the first session...?

The first session gives us an opportunity to discuss your issues and requirements, so I can check I'm the right person to help you.  As such, I will carry out an assessment but this is also an opportunity for you to check you are happy with the way I work.  As such, I encourage you to ask as many questions as you like.  I consider therapy to be a two-way relationship and I want to ensure you are as happy and comfortable as possible whilst you are working with me.

How many sessions will I need...?

Each session lasts for 50 minutes. I offer short or longer term counselling, depending on your requirements. It is ultimately up to you how many sessions you would like to have (and the frequency of them) and this is something we can discuss at your first meeting. I also recommend regular reviews so that we can talk about how counselling is going for you,  and discuss progress and any setbacks. Although you are free to end counselling at any time without obligation, I would recommend we work together towards an ending where possible, to tie-up any ‘loose ends’.

What if I have further questions...?

I hope this information is helpful, but if you have any further questions or concerns about your counselling, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I can offer you a initial free 30 minute telephone consultation for us to discuss your requirements.
