About me and my therapy practice
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ
As a psychotherapist I provide a safe, gentle and confidential space in which I encourage you to be yourself. I want to connect to you and your story, and understand your experience. You may be in the midst of a stressful life event; a bereavement, a break-up or change of circumstance. Or sometimes overwhelming feelings just appear to arise from nowhere. You find yourself constantly worrying or feeling sad.
When life feels like a struggle it is often difficult to know what to do. You can end up feeling a bit lost and alone, unsure of where to turn or who to talk to. Sharing your troubles with friends and family might feel too hard, perhaps you are not even sure what you would say. Being able to explore your experiences with a therapist can help provide the clarity and perspective you need.
My role is to support you through your challenges. I want you to feel comfortable being who you are and to have the confidence to embrace your life. So often you cannot change the things in your past, or what is happening to you right now. However, you are able to relate differently to these experiences and you can make positive decisions about your future.
Practice description
I provide individual counselling and psychotherapy for adults; I offer short-term solution focused work and longer-term in-depth psychotherapy.
I am an integrative psychotherapist which means I draw on a range of techniques from my professional experience and training. I work relationally and my approach is influenced mainly by Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, mindfulness-based and person-centred therapies.
I have a sensitive and gentle manner, and I will work at the pace which feels right for you. I will support you through your healing process and give you the necessary space to be, however you need to be, at this time.
Growth and change are usually part of the therapy process. Having a greater understanding of yourself enables you to make different choices. My role is to support and encourage you to move forward in a way which enhances your life and your well-being.
I trained at the Northern Guild for Psychotherapy and Counselling. I have experience working with a wide variety of clients presenting with issues ranging from stress, anxiety, depression and loss, to self-exploration and personal growth. I have provided counselling and psychotherapy in a GP surgery and at a charity which supports people in recovery from a range of addictions.
My first session
It can be difficult to decide who to talk to so I offer a free 20 minute initial session online. This gives me the opportunity to explain a little bit more about the way I work, to allow us to "meet" online and to help you get a feel for the type of therapist I am.
The next session will be an assessment and during this session it gives us the opportunity to decide whether I am the right therapist for you (this is a full price session).
