About me and my therapy practice

I work with individuals and couples and have a holistic approach to therapy.

If you are suffering feelings of isolation, abandonment or a sense of deep longing, feelings of panic or heightened anxiety, insomnia or disturbed sleep patterns, recurring dreams, frequent anger, mood swings, unexplained aches or chronic pain then it is possible counselling will help. We will talk and also integrate physical interventions to help you gain control and regulate your experience.

Many people who contact me have suffered past loss. Loss encompasses bereavement; loss of freedom; traumatic loss; anticipating your own death or the death of a loved one; losing the future you expected or hoped for; loss of a relationship and many, many more examples. The list of losses in life is endless. Painful events in life result in feelings such as grief, anxiety, shame, guilt, anger, fear and sadness, which can feel overwhelming at times.

Practice description

I work face to face in a relaxing setting or via Zoom video conferencing. Some clients book a set number of sessions and others want open ended counselling, you are in control of the duration we will work. You may not know how many sessions you want from the outset and we can work this out together.

Whatever issue you bring, this is a space where you can speak openly and be accepted without judgment.

If you are a therapist in training, I offer concessionary rates so that you, in turn, can contribute your valuable skills to people in your community.

About Me

With a history working as a successful freelance Executive Assistant, I frequently offered a calm, listening ear to clients in business. They appreciated my ability to offer new perspectives. So when a psychologist and then a hostage negotiator suggested I train as a Counsellor, the final piece of the jigsaw fell into place.

Business skills transferred well to my new career home. Excellent interpersonal skills facilitated relationship building with counselling clients. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive, confidential situations without ever having any breach of trust or discretion is essential. Ability to work well under pressure and time boundaries while creating an atmosphere of calm, a transferrable skill.

People describe me as warm, kind, gentle and compassionate. Clients have commented that they feel cared for, even when I challenge their perspective. They know I am on their team.

I value kindness, autonomy, connection, compassion and relationship. I believe that people can be empowered to thrive after life events have adversely impacted them. Above all, I believe that when we feel healthy, resilient and connected, the world becomes a safer place.

My first session

Before your first session we will have the opportunity to talk, free of charge, on the phone for 20-30 minutes. You do not have to commit at this time, the purpose of our conversation is to assess whether we can work together. It is important you get a sense that I am the therapist for you because our relationship is important to our collaboration. It is important that I can offer the unique skill set you need. If I can't, I will signpost you to someone I think may better suit your needs.

If we decide to go ahead we will make an appointment for a formal assessment. This aims to establish what your needs are & how you will know when you have what you need.

Assessment Session: £25/person (50 minutes for individuals, 60 minutes for couples)

Subsequent sessions: £60 for individuals (a limited number of concessionary rates are available) and £85 for couples.
