About me and my therapy practice

We all need to reach out to someone at some point in our lives.  Finding the right person, or the right type of help can be overwhelming.  I offer an introductory session to help you navigate the choices available to you.

I provide weekly psychotherapy sessions at Shipston.  If you need help to understand and manage your feelings,  I aim to help you move from a position of 'coping' or barely managing, to a point where you can learn how to live more fully; to enjoy good experiences and accept kindness.  We can work through your negative feelings that that might make you believe you are undeserving.

The aims of psychodynamic therapy is to enable you to get in touch with those deeper feelings so you can begin to act with more self-awareness and make meaningful choices in life.  I have had a lot of experience with people from many walks of life and have an innate ability to put you at ease.  This will help us to progress your treatment and realise the potential to live the full life that we are all born with.

I also offer EMDR sessions.  These aim to desensitise your memory of upsetting events so you can remember them without feeling like you are reliving the experience each time.  This type of therapy is particularly useful for events which occurred in childhood or traumatic events in adulthood.

Practice description

Regular weekly psychotherapy sessions last 50 minutes.  I offer sessions during daytime and evening.

EMDR sessions are upto 2 hours and accordingly I charge for a double session.   Initially, during the preparation phases our sessions may be 50 minutes.

My first session

After initial introductions we will discuss what brings you to therapy now.   I will ask you to tell me about how you spend your time and any important people in your life now, or in the past.  Sharing your stories will allow me to suggest links between your past and present in ways you might not have thought about before.

Sessions last approximately 50 minutes but I will ensure we finish on time so you can have the space to really think.  I encourage you to ask me questions at anytime but most especially before committing to psychotherapy with me.  This way of working is not right for everyone and these initial sessions are a really good way of assessing what feels right for you.
