About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Counsellor who works with couples, individuals and children on a range of issues affecting relationships and personal well-being.
My work is underpinned by psychodynamic, systemic and attachment-based principles. I therefore consider a client’s personal, relationship and family history, cultural background as well as their current context within the therapeutic process.
For face-to-face appointments, I am based on the southside of Glasgow and offer a very calm therapeutic space for you to share your concerns.
Sessions are 50mins and my rates are as follows:
£55 for individuals
£70 for couples.
£50 for children
Practice description
Working in a warm, gentle, and balanced way and with client’s objectives in mind is key in my approach. I utilise varied theoretical lenses, psycho-educational material, reflection, and sometimes creative approaches to help clients find greater clarity on their concerns, build self-awareness, and strengthen or develop new coping mechanisms.
I have a strong awareness and knowledge of attachment trauma and complex trauma which guides my work. I also have interest in the lived experience of families living with children with additional support needs as well as relationships affected by neurodivergence or additional support needs.
Children and Young People
I also work with children and young people.
With younger clients, use of play is central as play has tremendous therapeutic benefits and research has demonstrated it as an effective treatment option with children and young people experiencing difficulty, ranging from trauma to emotional and behavioural difficulties. Therapeutic support with this age group involves non-directive/self-directed play which enables children to process difficult emotions or concerns but can also be directive at times, where appropriate. I provide a range of toys and art materials which can be used for stories, imaginative play, art making, structured games and activities.
With young people, activities are on offer but often talk therapy is more appropriate.
My first session
Prior to your first session, I am happy to speak with you in person, over the phone or online for an initial 15 min consultation (at no cost). I will take some details from you regarding your concerns and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you have. It is also an opportunity for you to assess whether you feel comfortable working with me.
Following this, if I am able to offer you support for your concerns, I will offer you an appointment time.
If you have any further questions I would be happy to answer these for you.
Children and Young People
Prior to working with any child, I will first meet or speak with a parent or guardian and find out your concerns. Following this, I will ask you to complete some assessment forms and will then meet with your child alongside you or on their own depending on age and stage of development.
If you have any further questions about length of sessions, structure, etc please get in touch.
