About me and my therapy practice
Therapy is as much about what we don’t say as what we do. There may be experiences that you find difficult to put into words, or distressing to say out loud. Maybe there’s something specific troubling you, or maybe you’re aware of a general feeling of unease, anxiety, numbness or futility. At times like these, it can help to have someone alongside you.
I’m a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ-registered counsellor and psychotherapist based in North London. My training and way of working is integrative, which means that I draw on different ways of understanding human experience to find an approach that works best for you. You might have heard of some of these before – person-centred, existential, psychodynamic, or body psychotherapy, for example – or you might not.
Either way, the most important thing to know is that I will be guided by your experience of the world and the relationship between us. My role is not to provide a diagnosis or give you solutions but to help you to re-connect with your own feelings, desires and intuitions – to find your way back to yourself. In doing so, we might explore dreams, drawings, music, writing, physical sensations, or anything else that feels useful.
I have a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from The Minster Centre, the UK’s leading training institute for integrative psychotherapy.
I also have over ten years’ experience in research, advocacy, and social justice in the UK and Australia. As a migrant myself, I have a long-standing interest in migration and belonging. I have a PhD in climate change and international law, and I’ve worked since 2012 with people in immigration detention. This means I’ve got to know people from all walks of life who are struggling with a range of issues, including trauma, violence, displacement, discrimination, bereavement, hearing voices, self-harm, anxiety, despair, perfectionism, addiction, and more.
Practice description
I work in North London, with a room in Finsbury Park that is close to tube, train, overground and bus stops.
The therapy room is wheelchair accessible, although unfortunately the toilet, while it is step free, is not wheelchair accessible. Please let me know if you have any other questions about accessibility.
My first session
If you're interested in finding out more, the first step is to get in touch to arrange a free phone conversation - and then, if it feels right, an initial session where we can get to know each other, uninterrupted. If we both feel that the first meeting has gone well, we can arrange a time to meet regularly, usually for 50 minutes a week. We might agree to meet for a short time (6-12 sessions), a longer time (6 months to a year), or without any fixed ending.
In certain circumstances, I may be able to offer sessions via phone or video-call, although my preference is for us to meet in person first.
