About me and my therapy practice
The most common 5 words I hear in in the therapy room are 鈥測ou must think I鈥檓 crazy鈥 I never do! If you are feeling it; it is valid. What can sometimes happen is feelings get confused with facts. I will sit with you while you explore those things and find the tools and strengths that you undoubtedly have within but have perhaps forgotten along the way.
Finding the right therapist for you can feel daunting; I understand that. It is so important that you find the best fit for you; I am happy to answer any questions you have. Drop me a text or email and we can decide together if it is a good fit for you. There is never any pressure from me and I will happily recommend alternative support if we feel that is more appropriate for you.
I offer time and space in a confidential environment either face to face, online or telephone. I trained integratively and work from a person centred core which means that I am client led and draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to suit you, after all this is your journey. My aim is to create a warm environment where my clients feel safe and supported to open up and move forward with their lives.
I have a great deal of experience working with bereavement and loss from my time offering long time support in a hospice supporting patients, carers and those bereaved.
From 2019 - 2022 I worked for the NHS as a Staff Counsellor counselling colleagues and delivering training in resilience and stress management. Throughout this period I supported many colleagues experiencing stress and or burnout due to their working environment and the vicarious trauma that can come from that.
I undertake regular robust Continuous Professional Development to ensure that I am up to date and current to enable me to offer the support that you deserve. I recently completed a Certificate in Trauma-Focused therapy.
Practice description
Prior to training to become a counsellor I spent 12 years in the RAF and 10 years working within education pastorally supporting students. I completed a placement within the school offering one to one counselling; I strongly believe in the value of offering a non judgemental space to help young people unlock their potential. I have a great deal of experience professionally and personally supporting those from the LGBTQ+ community.
I do not believe that there should be a one size fits all approach. You are unique and with me so will your counselling experience be.
I have a specialist interest in all areas of bereavement and loss and am also a Pet Bereavement Advisor (qualification awarded by the Blue Cross). Loss can be felt for so many reasons not just after the death of a loved one. There is no 鈥渞ight鈥 or 鈥渨rong鈥 way to grieve, the path will be as unique and individual as you are. Sharing your story and normalising your feelings is so important; perhaps I can help with that.
Being a veteran myself I understand the challenges that can be faced both whilst serving and integrating into 鈥渃ivvie鈥 street. It can be a really challenging time. I don鈥檛 promise to have all the answers but I do believe that you can navigate your way through and can offer a safe space for you to work through whatever is going on for you.
My first session
I am very client led; the first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and for you to ask me any questions you may have. Your time is precious and I value that and the investment you are making in you. You matter.
I offer a complimentary 15 minute intro session either via zoom or phone to get a feel for how it might be to work together. It is so important for you to find the best fit for you.
