About me and my therapy practice

You don't have to do it alone:

Have you been feeling lonely? lost? empty? stuck?  Are you in a partner relationship where connection has broken down?

It is not always possible to turn to family or friends for support, where sometimes our difficulties involve these very people.

I am here and ready to help.

A little about me:

I am a qualified and compassionate psychotherapist, and an integrative and attachment focused couples counsellor. I have a wealth of experience, including developed by my several years practicing as a social worker with people in very difficult situations.  I have been an affiliate with bereavement charity '2 Wish Upon A Star', and a handful of employers in offering their employment assistance programme.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ), and have full clinical membership with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). As such, I am bound by their ethical frameworks for good practice.

A little about the way I work:

I work with adults on a one to one basis offering short-term counselling to long-term psychotherapy, as well as, work with couples.

Counselling tends to be a shorter-term process that is focused on problem-solving around a specific issue. Psychotherapy is a longer-term process which involves going backwards to go forwards; namely exploring the here and now impact of your childhood experiences.

I commonly work with childhood/developmental trauma, loss, life transitions,  depression, anxiety, cultural issues, and relationship difficulties.

In couples work, I can help you improve communication and gain a better understanding of yourselves and each other to navigate difficult and confusing patterns of behaviour that keep happening between you. For couples that are uncertain about the future of their relationship, counselling can help to gain clarity, and if the decision is made to separate, it can offer a chance to be amicable. This can be hugely beneficial to all, including children.

Practice description

With one-to-one clients, I am currently offering online and in-person sessions in the Derbyshire area. My fees are £55 for a sixty minute session.

With couples, I offer in-person sessions only. My fees are £70 for a seventy five minute session.

My first session

Reaching out can feel daunting. As someone who has experienced personal therapy, I know the feeling well.

I offer a free initial assessment; with one to one clients this is upto twenty minutes, and with couples this is upto half an hour. This enables me to get a summary of your current circumstances and needs, and for you to get a sense of whether I am the sort of person you want to work with.

During the telephone consultation, I will ask you questions including;

-What has led you to making contact with me?

-What is it you want to get out of the experience?

This is also a chance for you to ask me anything you need to, such about the approach I use, and/or the therapy experience.

There are a few possible outcomes after the consultation; either we decide we are not well suited to work together and for you to try someone else, or we continue and you book a session with me.
