About me and my therapy practice
Therapy is a powerful process that gives people the tools and confidence to transform their lives. I have many years experience helping people with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts and self-esteem etc. But if you don't know what it is that is upsetting you, then that's ok too - just drop me a line and we can talk about what can be done to help.
As well as these broader issues, I have a specialist interest in helping people understand and navigate relationship patterns and difficulties, and to find freedom from painful relational dynamics. So whether you’re feeling unhappy with a friendship or family bond, or struggling with an intimate or sexual relationship, or with sex, I have the experience to help.
I deeply respect all my clients, whether they find counselling terrifying, challenging, or a relief. The therapeutic work my clients undertake, and the courage they show in their willingness to explore difficult and painful experiences or emotions is both humbling and inspiring.
I particularly welcome individuals who identify as autistic or having ADHD, or are exploring diverse relationship structures and identities, including consensual non-monogamy, polyamory and those within the LGBTQIA+, trans, kink or non-binary communities.
Practice description
I am an effective, experienced and ethical integrative therapist.
As an Accredited Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ therapist, I’ve undergone rigorous assessments that ensure high standards of practice, including skills, theoretical understanding and self-awareness.
I was trained at the University of Salford on the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ-accredited Person-Centred PGDip in Counselling & Psychotherapy course; I also draw on aspects of TA (Transactional Analysis), psychodynamic theory and the IFS (Internal Family Systems) model.
I have a psychosexual qualification (accredited by the leading sex and relationships professional body, COSRT) after training with the Grove for a L5 certificate in Psychosexual Therapy.
My couples training is with Juliet Grayson and is approved by the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (NCIP).
You can learn more about me and my approach on my podcast This Won’t Fix You (www.thiswontfixyou.com) or as a contributor to the Counselling Tutor Podcast.
Life is challenging, and we all benefit from someone wholly on our side to help us navigate it. When we’re ready to face whatever is holding us back, talking to a good therapist can bring about transformative change.
I am also available to speak publicly about limerence and obsessive love. If you are looking for help in this area, you may be interested to know that I’m taking expressions of interest for a course I’ll be running in the new year, designed for those seeking relief from love that feels painful. You can sign up for alerts at www.nadinepittam.com.
I work from a large, comfortable consulting room in central Manchester. I work online too.
Fortnightly appointments welcome.
My first session
Initial 15-minute telephone or online consultations are free.
You can use the initial phone/online call to ask specific questions, or to just have a conversation so you can find out what it feels like for us to talk. It's surprising how much you will learn from this brief exchange.
If you're unsure at this stage whether you even want therapy, or if you can't decide which therapist from the directory to make contact with, drop me an email anyway so we can schedule a call - it will be so much easier for you to decide once you have had these conversations.
