About me and my therapy practice
When the pop psychology and self help affirmations start to feel hollow, it might be time to consider counselling.
I trained as a counsellor to gain a deeper understanding about the problems people were approaching me with when I worked in frontline services.
Originally trained in Person Centred Counselling, I utilise a pluralistic approach which also includes elements of Acceptance and Commitment therapy: A third wave meta cognitive approach with psychological flexibility at its core. Two different approaches but nevertheless complimentary of each other.
Practice description
I work with indviduals and couples on a range of issues: Anxiety, depression, bereavement, problematic substance use, and relationships to name a few. In my experience, the presenting issue is seldom the problem. I will work with you to navigate the process of change and the discomfort that might bring.
I offer a confidential service and you can be confident that your personal information will be kept safe and secure. I adhere to current data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU/2016/679) (the GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.

About me and my therapy practice
When the pop psychology and self-help affirmations start to feel hollow, it might be time to consider counselling.
I trained as a counsellor to gain a deeper understanding about the complexities of the human condition. As a counsellor, I will support you through the process of change and the difficulties that come with it. There is a part of my practice that will validate you as the expert of your experience, but I also want to understand how you make contact with the world around you. From this we can gain valuable insights into your distress and how you can change your relationship with these difficulties.
My background is in frontline services dealing with an array of complex social issues such as homelessness, offending behaviour, severe and enduring mental health (acute and forensic) and problematic substance use for over twenty years first as a case worker then as a service manager.
Practice description
Working with me you will receive a professional and confidential service. I am a warm and empathic practitioner, but I will also challenge you by reflecting to you your discrepancies. I will make clear from the outset, that I will not solve your problems, but I will support you to change the relationship with your distress.
Although I originally trained in person centred counselling, I have a broad portfolio of continuous professional development which means I am not restricted to just one modality and now includes Existential, Psychodynamic, Systemic and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Post qualifying, I have worked with both individuals and couples, experiencing a variety of issues: anxiety, bereavement, building trust, communication, complex grief, death anxiety, depression, fertility issues, infidelity, problematic substance use, self-esteem, severe and enduring mental health and workplace issues and stress.
Call me for a free 15 minute consultation.
