About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Edom, and I am a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ-accredited therapist who has been delivering emotional/therapeutic support to individuals for over ten years.
I am trained in and apply teachings/perspectives from different schools of psychotherapy, including Person-centred, Psychodynamic, CBT and Existential, as I believe everything depends on the given individual. I have also completed online and telephone therapy training. At the core, my approach is relational. I value the relationship between client and therapist and meeting each client as the individual that they are. I believe the therapeutic relationship to be the basis of successful therapeutic work.
I see my role as a therapist as a companion to walk beside my clients as they cross bridges to new understandings of themselves and their life meaning. We work collaboratively. I aim to create a safe space where I can support you in exploring your difficulties, understand who you are and your needs better and feel empowered to make changes that support and enhance the life you want to live.
My specialist interest is in trauma/complex trauma, and in particular, working with childhood abuse survivors. However, I can support you in working through a range of issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, existential crisis, life transitions, spirituality, loss and grief, work-related issues, cultural issues, relationship and family difficulties and self-identity, to name some.
Taking that first step:
It takes great bravery and determination to reach out to a therapist. The process can seem daunting, but what's important is for you to find a therapist you can build a good rapport with and feel safe with. Please feel free to contact me to schedule a consultation where we can explore what is going on for you and how I can assist you.
Practice description
I am currently providing telephone and online therapy via video conferencing.
A therapy session, including the initial consultation session, lasts for 50 minutes. Regular sessions take place at the same time weekly.
Fees for each session, including the initial consultation session, is £65. However, I am sometimes able to offer a reduced fee for those on low income on a time-limited basis. Please, let me know if this is something you would like to discuss.
The greatest benefit from therapy is gained when attendance is regular and the relationship between you and your therapist is given the time to work. However, if you cannot attend, please give one week's cancellation notice, without which the full session fee is chargeable.
My first session
During the initial consultation (first) session, we get the chance to explore what has brought you to therapy and for me to tell you a bit about how I work and decide if we feel we can work together.
At the end of the initial consultation session, a contract for open-ended/ongoing or time-limited (for a set number of sessions agreed upon at the start) therapy will be offered.
You may choose to end our work together whenever you wish, whether on an open-ended or time-limited contract. In either case, it is important to plan ahead of time to say goodbye and bring our work to a close, as this is an integral part of the therapeutic process.
