About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychotherapist specialising in both one-to-one therapy to adults and Couples Therapy. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I also have a masters in Health Psychology.
I specialise in seeing clients who have experienced loss and grief. Even in situations where we do not experience bereavement explicitly – in divorce, for example, or when events conspire to permanently deny us certain opportunities – we can experience this shattering dimension of loss.
It can be very difficult to talk about your issues, others do not know what to say to you, and may even minimise your loss, which can be very traumatic. It can be a great relief to speak to someone non-judgmental, who really listens and can understand the world from your perspective.
I also offer couple/relationship therapy having completed specialist training to be awarded The Grove’s Certificate in Couple/Relationship Therapy accredited by COSRT at Level 5. I see couples to help them work through issues with their relationships. It can be really helpful to have someone to help create a safe space to work on your relationships with the most important people in our lives.
It may be helpful to reflect, explore and examine your life with an approachable, experienced and understanding therapist. This is where I can help. Together we can make sense of your situation and find a path through. There can be a fear of shame or failure in asking for help, or showing vulnerability but actually these are signs of strength. I can support you in your courageous step to ask for help and walk alongside you as we explore your experiences.
Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I spent many years working in higher education, teaching consultation skills to medical students and was also responsible for supporting students who were struggling.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face sessions to both individuals and couples in my calm, cozy home office. This space has been created to offer you a safe space in which to explore the difficult issues that have brought you to therapy.
I can also offer sessions on Zoom for individual clients only.
My first session
Our first session together is for you to tell me anything you would like me to know about why you are seeking a therapist. I will ask you some questions about you and your life; and answer any questions you might have about the way in which we might work together.
The most important thing for any client is that you feel that I am someone you could say anything to, that you feel I would not judge you or disapprove of you. My role is to hear whatever you have to say and to guide you out of the shadows you find yourself beneath.
